As for buying a new one? I doubt not for a while. Not a very good move especially since the job market is not stable. But, for the time being I'd probably be driving around my family's 1993 Mercury Sable GS. You think our cars squeak? You dont know nothing till you've driven american. lol

The 2000 Chevy Tahoe LT I had was completely squeak and rattle free and I only had one transmission for the life of the car. Like a bank vault compared to my TL-S (2 bad trannies, water leaks, squeaks, rattles, warped rotors). But driving the TL sure is a lot more fun than the Tahoe.

I dont understand why you cant take anything off the car.If you bought all this stuff take it off,all the insurance cares about is having the car as it came off the factory line.
Well best of luck with the insurance company.
And make sure since you didnt take anything off the car that the insurance company pays for all the stuff you put into it.

The brakes is easy. Just take off the rubber and inside you'll find a plate with holes. These holes happened to be aligned exactly to the holes in the center of the aftermarket brake pedals. You just then use the bolts that came with the pedals and stick them through the metal plate in the back and secure it with the nut it came with. As for the gas pedals...well...I had to use the clamps up on top to hold it in place while I drilled the screws into the plastic pedal. I kept the clamps on the gas pedal regardless though.

"I'd probably be driving around my family's 1993 Mercury Sable GS" I drove a '92 3.0 Sable....a green one before the TL-S, I know what you are going to be going through

Good Luck with the insurance

Dude,

That is some really bad damage. What body shop did you take it to? You should call Acuras Hotline or look in the manual I think. They have shop they recommend that should fix your car. That should be $$$$$$$$$ and for sure you'll get a total loss for your car. Hmmm that many ppls PM you for your parts. LOL I just suggested it cause I didn't want you to get a total loss for your aftermarket parts. But I understand when ppls give your G@y offers. Atleast you didn't have to worry about the trammy down the line

Hey guys...just called the body shop and it looks like the insurance company is trying REAL hard to salvage it. Problem is the body shop straight out told me that I may be getting reconditioned bumpers and stuff. I asked him if I had the right to refuse any NON-Acura genuine parts and he told me yes...but then that's another thing to deal with once the adjuster is finished tallying up all the parts. Man...looks like it wont be a goodbye for good after all. I just hope that she will drive the same. Also...what are the chances of installing parts from Tim? Do you guys think that the genuine acura parts costs that much? If so, I'd rather be rolling around in H&R OE springs and Koni yellows.

Whoa. What is the cost of damages?? Also, if you have a salvage title, you will never be able to sell it for what you want. But if this is the most economical route for you then I think it's great.

If you can, try and get them to classify it as a rebuilt title, this has better resale value than salvaged..

as for getting aftermarket parts, I guess you can work that out with the body shop, those parts often times cost the same as the stock parts..

I know one of the CL-S owners was able to get his HKS exhaust as a replacement rather than stock after he got rear-ended..

Hmmm...ok...I'll look into that. Hey guess what. The body shop just called me again asking where I put my headlights. I was like "WTF are you guys talking aobut?!" Apperantly, some fool took off with it while they were tearing it apart. They better not charge that against me!

Actually, I don't know if he even wants it totalled since he just lost his job and may not be able to pay for another TL if they write it off. Let's just hope it goes in his favor either way.

Actually I do want it totalled. If I do, then they SHOULD pay for my remainder of my loan and in addition I had full loss insurance with my credit union. If it was a total loss, it would of been like I was just leasing it for a year for an extremely high rate...but at least I wont be paying any monthlys, compaired to paying full price for a semi-broken down TLS. BTW...if I was to buy another car, it definitely wouldnt be the same car...total taboo.

If you car is not considered totalled, then you might want to do this. Make sure the body shop agrees to the written estimate done by your adjuster. Once that is complete, you would want to "cash settle". Meaning that your insurance will pay you directly rather than paying the shop. You in turn can tell the shop that you will be supplying the springs/shocks/exhaust or whatever aftermarket equipment you want and pay the rest to the shop. If, for somehow, the shop finds additional damage that your adjuster had missed, they will notify your adjuster and your adjuster will either pay you or the body shop for the supplemental damage. Hope this is helping you. You can email me anytime if you have questions.

This is exactly what I was looking for. I was talking to my adjuster about this today and he said we cant make any deals untill AFTER the adjuster is finishing tallying everything up. Hmmm.....do I HAVE to be the supplier? My plan was to go through the body shop and have THEM buy parts from this site. Economy is rather horrible for me so anything out of my pocket is NOT a viable option. Any further advice would be appreciated. OOOO....I forgot....does anyone know how much stock exhausts and springs cost?

i don't have exact figures for the stock exhuasts, but i don't think it would be too much far off from aftermarket ones like comptech (probably a bit cheaper of course).

for the springs, my friend with a tlp asked before and the dealer said it's 250 bucks. i really don't believe it but that's what they said....

btw acuraTl, you got pm.

If your body shop is willing to order those parts for you, sure. If not, you can wait until the insurance company gives you the check, cash it, then order the parts and pay the body shop.

Initial estimate on total price of repairs.

Parts (No HIDs):
$8,004.73 Gross Parts
$10.00 *Other Parts
$350.00 Paint Material
-$800.47 Discount
$624.05 Tax

Labor:
$8,377.20 Labor Total
$821.00 Sublet Repairs

Other Fees (that got waived...woohoo!):
-$175.00 3rd party Towing
-$75.00 3rd party Storage
-$250.00 Deductible
-$98.13 Betterment

$17,088.38 Net Total

Rememeber...my HIDs got stolen, so this does not include the price for the HIDs and the labor in putting it in. As of now, my main concern is that they can put back my Injen CAI and Neuspeed sways back on properly. My CAI filter got damaged by the shop when they were tearing my bumper apart, so I'm not really certain if I should go buy a new one. It has no punctures, it just looks like its leaning to one side, but I'm almost certain that, that will be my problem and not theirs.

Did they just take the bulbs or the whole ballast for your HIDs?

If the ballast are still there.. then just get some new lenses and some 6000K bulbs! :wow:

btw, no matter the hids are stolen or what, shouldn't you be able to get it fixed?

Uh...this is where you got me. I have NO clue about HIDs so I didn't exactly know what to look for other than my lenses were gone (along with my polarg bulbs) and wires that were clearly cut off. But hmmm....wouldnt I get in trouble with 6000k bulbs though? When the CHP was writing my statements down that night, one of them yelled out "Hey! Does he have blue headlights?" I later asked them why, and they told me that if I did, they would of fined me right then and there. As for the ETA....3-4 weeks after they get all the parts in. Parts should be comming in by this week, along with my THERMALS R&D woohoo! Oh...BTW now you guys can see my riced up rotors/calipers :p

The ballast is the convertor from your car to the bulbs..

here is a pic, the ballast are the two box things on the left, at the top are your bulbs, and to the right is your wiring harness..

Thanks...but I really dont know where the stock balasts would be located, so I didnt even bother to check if they were missing or not. I'm almost certain that if my HIDs were in fact stolen, wouldnt they KNOW that the balasts are required also? If not...I'm pretty sure they are gonna do a 2nd trip to finish the job.
