Is there any way to hook up the map lights (the 2 lights in the front near the sunglass holder and garage door opener) to the dome lights, so that when the door is open my map lights will turn on with my dome light.

Would I have to remove the roof panel to do this?

 

i would say take a look at the DIY door handle LED to identify the dome trigger wires and then just find the power wires to the map lights and wire them to the dome trigger

 

well someone did talk about this while ago.....i don't think they ever did it.....the idea was run some wires from the dome ligths to the map lights.....and have a diode in there so that when you turn on the map lights the dome light doesn't turn on....i believe they got the idea from the 3rd gen + TSX......

 

alright so I realized that the LED's i bought for my map lights rarely get used and I was thinking it would be really cool to have them wired up to the dome lights so they go on when the doors are opened. So i searched and came accross this thread and another (https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/got-new-mod-idea-but-dont-know-how-execute-572889/) talking about the same idea. so i'm wondering if 2 years later this idea has been carried out.

 

just run some extra wires from the dome light forward(should be able to use a coat hanger or something) then use some diodes (like a $1 each max at radio shack) so the map lights do not back feed to the dome light or each other

yeah, just pull down the dome light and map first
shit, you also have to go to the side first in order to get around the sunroof too

also you proably will need a relay too
and thinking about it you might be able to find the dome light circuit in the passenger side a-piller so you would just have to run it over from there

 

wiring diagrams? i dont wanna open anything up until I know for sure that it'll work

 

 

I'm looking forward to writing up a DIY for this project. If anybody out there has successfully done this mod chime in.

I finally got led's from v-led.com and theyre nice. I just wanted to have the maps wired to the dome to come on too.

Anyone have any helpful tips let me know.
