For real, once the DIY rolls around, and I know exactly what LEDs to get or better yet, a URL of the LEDs I need, Ill def do this. Also, I was in my GF's Aunts Audi A8, the newer ones its prolly an 06 or 07. But anyways, the inside of the car is a LED Fest. The door handles in the inside have LEDs in them with a diffuser. It also has a very long diffuser going along the inside of the door like in our cars where the wood grain meets the leather on the door panel. It goes along that but its hidden so it lights up the arm rests on the door panel. It also has an LED inside the garbage thing on the door panels. Just amazing. I might have to do these things to my car.

Would you suggest using 5mm LEDs or 10mm? That guy has some pretty good deals on LEDs.

I have run into a problem... I think my LEDs burnt out because I wasnt using the correct resistors... So now i have to figure out which ones to use.

The resistors that come free with my LED's are for 12v which is what says on there so I dont think ill have a problem with the resistors.

If you dont buy a kit, one of the harder things is weather proofing all your exposed wire. I recommend liquid electrical tape or shrink tube.

yea we got some shrink tube here at the Shack, which is where Im typing this from, I was speaking with one of my customers about this mod I will soon do and he said its the best thing to do and its very professional and people will ask, "Who did that for you?" and my answer will be, "Me, SUCKA!!" It shouldnt be a big problem to weather seal tho.

I would use the liquid tape or rubber to coat all exposed wires.

I was thinking, where the LED goes through the hole in the door handle, I was thinking maybe put some hot glue around it, just a lil so no water goes seeping through the side of the LED. and then Shrink wrap the rest of the wire.

lol i been working 6 days a week covering for a sick employee.. only thing i want to do is sleep on my day off.

as far as weather proofing i used shrink tube for the two wires i spent around $15 getting 10 feet of shrink tube. that go from the handle to the light and for the led feet i used contact cement to keep them in there good and liquid tape to keep water away from it...

just reading the thread now and I must say the idea of lights in the door pulls and under the door would be great, especially in winter here (ummm 9 out of 12 months) and the dark we put up with!
