Count Me In!
Count Me In!
I was at 88,074 miles and in the fast lane in the middle of rush hour last Friday when the transmission in my 2000 TL lost the will to live. I'm now in the (not so exclusive) dead tranny club! The dealer had it towed and gave me a 2006 TL loaner That almost made things alright until this morning I get a call. I find out yes-the transmission is out and yes-it is completely covered but-oh by the way, I have 2 broken engine mounts and they will NOT be covered! I argue that there's a pretty good chance when I'm running at highway speeds and my transmission decides it should be in FIRST GEAR and I nearly bounce my head off the steering wheel, that the engine mounts probably broke for that reason. The dealer admits it is possible but the mounts could also have been broken before hand so it's not covered. However, since they are pulling the transmission already that one of the mounts could be replaced with a lower labor cost. What a load of shit! Has anyone else heard of engine mounts breaking along with tranny death?

Our mounts are in a breed by themselves being vacum assisted. Doubt any one will make a mount aftermarket for our cars

from wat i know is ...if u change the gear from N to D5 if the car kinda jerks then the mounts are bad. If they are good then the car wud juss be smooth in changin gears from R to N and N to D5

you have to be very familiar with cars to notice mount just by driving it. My dad test drove a 99 TL for me and noticed somethin in the pedal. When we got back, he tested it by.. ummm i think he put it in drive and kept the brake down and had me check if i saw the engine jerking.. it did. also you put it in reverse and that tests another mount... that TL had 2 broken mounts.. not sure if u get that but i think thats how it goes, LOL!
