Could it be the Tranny?

Maybe someone could shed some light on this for me. I have a 2K2 TL-S w/ 30,000 miles on the original transmission and I have had no problems so far. Well the other day I noticed that when I am driving, the D5 light on the dash fades in and out. It seems that it dims only when downshifting though. The shifting seems fine but is this an indicator of bad things to come?

As long as the tranny is shifting OK you're fine. If just the D5 light is dimming slightly it's probably an electrical issue in the dash.. which is probably not a big deal.

Keep an eye on it though.. if it gets worse and you notice other lights going on, like Check Engine or the VSA light.... then the odds are the tranny is on its way out....

Thanks JB. Really odd problem though. Keep an eye on yours when you are driving and let me know if you notice it. Or anyone else for that matter. I'm curious.

I believe this actually came up once before and some people were seeing the dimming as well. I can't remember for sure.. but it sounds familiar.
