would the keys u see on ebay for like 20$ work?

How much would acura charge to progrram it?

I remeber buyin a key and gettin it made for $40 how much would they charrge just to have it made if those ebay keys work.( the ones with the transponders in em)

my dealer actually suggested that I look on ebay for replacement keys since they would be much cheaper and they would be able to program them for me whenever I take my car in for service.

 

they have to program and make the key right?
how much are they chargin, cuz i got a blank one off ebay that is meant for our car but dealership askin $40, same pricee as fuckin gettin a new key

 

My dealer said that they would program my key for me free of charge, so I have no clue of how much it really should be but $40 seems a bit steep.

Much of what a dealer will do for free is sometimes a function of whether you bought the car there. If you don't like the $40 charge, try another dealer.

BTW, did you ask your dealer what he'd charge to program a key before you bought one at ebay?

 

yea i had one made actually, but i used it for the remote start. and he sayin its the same price, I was like WTF???

 

To get the ebay ket cut and programmed is $10 at ANY DEALERSHIP
To program ebay remotes = free

Dealer key $40 cut AND programmed (ebay might not be cheaper, S&H + cuttin')
Dealer remote $92 programmed...or not programmed

 

Try this. I dont know if its right but I found this on the forum somewhere:

this is a long process, but heres what you will need:

1.your new key
2.a MASTER KEY (one with the remote in it)already programmed to car.
----to program the transponder- (thats the immobilizer part)
sitting in dr. seat, put the master key in ignition, and turn to on.engine OFF. press the gas pedal 5 times to floor and release. now press brake 6 times (press and release)
remove master key from ignition. install new key and turn to on...engine off. press gas to floor once. now wait. the security light will blink for about 45-60 seconds, then it will go off if you did it correctly. once the light is off, car should start.

 

thnx for the info but see, the dealership charged me $40 to have THEIR key, cut and programmed and your sayin thats usually $92? Ebay key was $20 with shipping and i guess $40 at the dealship runs equals $60. Oh well i need an extra anyways

the REMOTE costs $92...not the key...i clearly stated they charged $40 for the key/cuttin' which is what you got charged.

ebay has remotes...batches of 3 for $25shipped and you can programm those yourself

 

Just got duplicate keys last Sat at my local dealership for $25. They quoted me for the remote for $85. Will buy one @ ebay, just waiting for a good deal.

 

i brought my key on ebay for like .. 10-20$ shipped, my dealer cuted it and reprogramed it for free (i know the staff here..) and i took the remote from my accord v6 98 (totaled) and reprogramed it.. all is working well..

 

The only thing I don't like about the ebay keys is that it doesn't have the acura logo. If you got the one with the logo then you just saved $5
