Coolant Leak Passenger side

So slowly but surely getting to roots of little problems, opened up the hood two days ago, and coolant spray is all over the passenger side, any ideas where this could be coming from, besides the water pump didnt know there was anything that could leak?? Water pump is about a year old.

The lines that run to the heater core go in on the passenger side, there is a coolant cross over pipe that runs under the lower intake manifold. Try to locate the actual spot its leaking from. Wash up the engine bay, let it dry then start the car and let it idle, let the radiator fans come on a few times to make sure its up to operating temp and try to locate the leak.

Are you talking about that black pipe that runs to the intake side as well and connects to the heater hoses??

He is talking about locating where the leak is. There is a coolant line at the firewall on the passenger side, but regardless, you need to locate the leak.

All of the coolant lines from the intake side, including the heater hoses were replaced, so i know for sure its nothing on that side. Just didnt know what was on the timing belt side that could cause such a spray that was all over the engine and hood.

Was the leak present before previously replacing all of those cooling hoses ? Ya may wanna inspect the connecting clamps for tightness, as they may have worked loose. Were the hose's retaining clamps replaced at the time also ? Just something that is easily overlooked.

I was thinking that when i finished replacing the radiator a couples months ago, and thought to myself i bet these old clamps don't hold good pressure. so you answered that part for me... I plan to take a look at it tomorrow, between moving and wifey now working at night, have very limited time to get under the hood. like i mentioned in previous post was still smelling coolant so made me paranoid and i check under the hood everytime i get home. Well paid off cause when i lifted the hood, about half the engine of the IM side towards the side mount has white spots everywhere. Wasn't aware of any hoses or anything coolant related on that side.

And no leaks before what so ever, was just replacing things cause of the age of car and peace of mind.

Don't be putting off repairing any sort of coolant leak, .....
as ya may end up with bigger problems should ya run low in coolant and start sucking air.

there are 2 lines that run from the firewall (under the passenger side under hood fuse panel) to the line that comes out under the lower intake manifold and to the cross over pipe that the thermostat is attached to.

The other one i was talking about is #10 which runs under the lower intake manifold.

like i said before, clean things up, start the car and let it idle and see if you can see where its coming from. If you dont see it right away let the engine run at least until the radiator fans come on.

Also MAKE sure the overflow tank is to the correct line and the radiator is full.

Ya got your work cut out for ya, it's basically the process of narrowing down the areas that Fsttyms1 previously outlined with the detailed above pic.

Just make sure that the rad's coolant level is up and the fans come on as he said.

funny that i literally have the part# on my desk at work for the seals to that pipe. I was able to take a look yesterday before the sun went down, from looking at the spraying everywhere i narrowed it down to the firewall behind the engine where the two heater hoses are. but those are brand new and i went and started the car again and let run for a little bit and started twisting and turning the lines by hand to see if any coolant came out but nothing. So not sure where to go from here.

I know the only issue i had within the last couple days, was that little plastic tab that turns off the brake lights broke so i had put a little piece of plastic there till i got the oem part but it was leaving the brakes applied so drove for like 3 mins with the brakes being pressed was extremely noticeable when i couldnt pass 20mph so was gonna drive home thinking something major was wrong but when i removed the piece of plastic the brakes let go so drove fine after that but than noticed the coolant spraying after that.

Checked twice now and no leak. Only thing I found was a little dent on one of the heater hoses it was touching the rear engine, but squeezed and squeezed and no leak. Drove the boy to school this morning and nada so I'm a little puzzled now cause no coolant missing either.

If you got it narrowed down to the heater hoses....remove them and put some gasket sealer on the connector fitting along with new hose clamps.

Another thing on the back of the engine is the coolant drain bolt, just a thought.
