coolant

when do you guys change the coolant? the reason i ask is because today i was washing my car and decided to take out the coolant catch can out and look to see if i was low and to wash the bottle. It was filty, jesus. Also while i opened up the bottle i saw little specs of brown in the coolant also the coolant is dark dark green. It looked like it was rust or something. It doesnt look pretty, so i have only 26,000 miles in my 03 tls and was wondering if now is a good time to flush it?

Also i looked in the manuel to see how to do a change and there are 2 bolts, the manuel describes as both of being for draining? im confused which one i am suppose to use? why are there 2 bolts for draining?

162,600 on mine - the stuff that has drained out on my 3 tranny replacements

i couldnt tell you but check in the manual. 100,000 would be a safe # along with the water pump and timing belt

sure, if it looks dirty flush it, no harm in that. better to avoid possible rust and corrosion than to find out about the problem too late. on my 2000 tl we only put 33k on it and the coolant is still green as day one...depends on the driving and the weather and about 50 other factors. in short, when in doubt replace...

The 03's don't recommend coolant change till 120k.
Coolant doesn't get changed when a trans is replaced, sorry, only a little leaks out during the process.
Older tl's, like 99 and 00 gets coolant changed at 45k. I don't get the service on these and why almost every year is different.
Oh and the new coolant is blue.
