constant air

i have had my TL for almost a year now and never really thought about it til recently but for the time I have had it even with the AC turned off some air still comes through the vents. It is not a lot but if I turn the heat dial all the way to heat then hot air will come through whereas when its placed at cold then cool air will come through. It isn't a lot of air but enough that you can feel it. My mom has a brand new 2011 Fusion and my dad a new 2011 Sonata and neither one does that in their car nor had my 1999 escort. Is this normal for others' TL? I am guessing it has to do with the automatic climate control but is there a way to turn it completely off?

When you turn off your AC do you hit the OFF button or do you actually hit the AC button then the OFF button. My car would do the same thing until one day I discovered that I wasn't actually turning the AC off, I was just turning the system off (if that makes any since) but the AC would still be on and barely blowing out air like in your case. So in order for me to stop the air from continuing to blow I had to 1) Toggle the AC button to off 2) Then press the OFF button. That should do it at least it worked for me.

There will still be air coming in even with the fans turned off. You need to close the ventilation by turning the recirculation button on.

Air conditioning turns OFF when OFF is pressed. It won't remain on.

I noticed that too - the air still flows.
I just leave the temperature dial now at what i want the air to be when I've pressed the off button.

I never realized that that's what AC OFF meant... cool.

Make sure the recirculate button is off so that the outside air can't flow into the car

yep
works the same in my dads MDX turn that button on and it stops all airflow.
I personally like it, In the days where its not too hot to turn the A/C on I usually turn it all the way to whichever temp I want and turn the fans fully on but leave the system off.
Therefore it keeps running via axillary power without having to kill my mileage

Isn't air circulation through the vents generally a good thing to hinder the growth of mold?

What "axillary power" are you speaking of?

Do you mean to make sure the recirculate button is on (air/heat/anything off) to prevent outside air leaking through? This works for me.

Your recirculation button has failed in the open position, that is why you can't stop the air flow from the outside. Turning it on or off wont close the vent.
