Computer reset for 99 TL...

I just bought a '99 tl........

And I've heard that the computer sets itself to the user of the vehicle...

The previous owner was a 50 year old lady....

Someone told me to disconnect the negative post on the battery, and wait 15 min... this will reset the computer.

Then let it run for 5 min and set the idol and then run the **** out of her for like 15 min....

Will this work and how much of a difference will it make ?...
or do I need to take it to a performance place to "Dial" it? How much does a performance store cost to do this.

What im looking for is some performance w/o voiding the warrantee....

EZ

do yourself a favor and don't disconnect the battery .... rather look at the fuse box for one labeled "ECU" remove that fuse then depress the brake pedal .... wait 5 minutes, reinsert the fuse and you're all done!! GOOD LUCK WITH THE CAR!!

well after you put it back in .... ride it like you want it to drive ... it'll learn your driving habits

if the car really "learns" the driver, wouldn't everyones car benefit from doing this since noone drives their car hard during the break in period

badazzTL - dont think so

this mainly changes how the car shifts in automatic mode, but say you lent your buddy your car for a week, it would adapt to him by the time u got it back. resetting the ECU just sets the car back to square one in learning driving charecteristics, itll certainly adapt to you without resetting the ECU

do you depress and HOLD the brake pedal down for the 5 mins?

OR

do you just depress and release the brake pedal right afterwards and then wait the 5 mins?
