It will not void the warranty unless the part can be proven to be the source of any problem.
For more info on the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, check out the following links. Note, this law does not specifically apply to cars, but to any warranty. Notice one of the links is off the Kingston Technology (memory manufacturer) website. Good explanation.
