Comptech Ice Box Intake Need to remove Resonator?

Hello! Its been a long time since the last time I visited acurazine (it was acura-tl.com back then)..
I blame this to my university education... oh well..
Anyways! I am finishing my First year this summer and finally get to live in a real world for near 4 months...
Since even for that 4 months I will be working as a Co-Op student. so for the first time I will get real cash in my pocket!

For that reason, I think I will be able to spare Two Grand Canadian Dollars on my Lovely 03 TL-S A-Spec.
I am planning to get Comptech Axle Back Exhaust system as well as Comptech Ice box Intake system.

Since the car is on lease, I wouldnt want to take resonator off the car due to many complication it could cause.

What I want to know is that If I need to take resonator off in order to install Ice Box CAI..
can anyone with the CAI please inform me if it is possible? or if not, what other Intake system should I consider?
(I searched and read that short ram CAIs dont require resonator removal.. but Cant find any that fits my 03 Type S).

Also, could you please tell me if the installation of the Exhaust system mentioned above would be some what tough?
.. I have never touched any mechanical part of the car or any other things except for K&N Filter installation...

Thank you so much for your time...

Glad to be back..
P.s. It will be a fun summer! :gheywave:

for any intake you will need to remove the resonator... since the resonator is attached to the stock air box..
as far as the installation of the axlebacks.. its a piece of cake, though it may be hard ot take off the bolts if they are rusted... (4 bolts all together)
spend the other grand on a drop, kit? (a-spec comes with stock kit right?), headers?

axle backs will be super easy...I did them recently in about an hour, and yes you will have to take out the resonator in order to install the Ice Box. (also not very difficult) Just hang on to it when you go to return the car. It doesn't take very long to take out...I'm sure it wouldn't take very long to put it back in. The key to all the installs it to have all the correct tools!

You should get some DC Sports headers IMO. You get a huge gain for cheap $$$ ($350 US) Plus it's a pretty simple install.

I hope that helps...Good luck with that...let us know how you make out.

Half the point of the intake is the sound it provides...not removing the resonator makes the installation impossible.

Here is a DIY on installing Comptech mufflers:

Yeah - you could get a short ram. That are quite loud though.

Why dont you want to ermove the resonator? Being on lease doesnt mean any thing. Before you trade it back in just put the original setup back on. If your looking for HP gains, do it right, get teh Icebox or CAI and remove the resonator. It takes all of 30 min to do.

No way you'd do that. Take off the bumper and you'll be fine. I am pretty certain the snorkel on the Icebox has to drop down where the resonator sits.
