My friend has a set of Comptech headers on his CL-S that he might sell to me for $200 CAD and I was just wondering a few things. First will they fit my 99 TL, and is there a noticeable difference with the headers. I used to have a Civic Si (Canadian Version) and after I installed the DC 4 into 1 headers there wasn't much diff. Anyways any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

damn either your friend is hooking you up or I dont know how much 200$cdn is...the headers should be noticeable, they say it give 18HP, but if you look at the dyno, its a diff. story...I say it really doesnt make a $hit off the line, but I could be wrong...im still buying them, and yea you should be able to use his headers...Shyne

 

About 15hp at top RPM only. 32hp on a type S, buy it for $200 and sell it to a type S owner for $700....they would buy it on a heart beat.

So you guys are sure that they will fit my TL...btw $200 CAD is about $130 USD.

He's selling them for that price because he'll be trading in his car to Nissan next week and it would be a total waste for him to give the headers also. So lucky me huh

 

I think you should definitely get it. I've had mine since 1999 and I love every minute of it. It's the best when you are at highway speed, no more downshifting when passing and if you need to REALLY pass a car, down shift to 3rd and the power is there.

 

So I guess you guys think that I should get them huh?

Well don't be so positive now. I was just giving you another option, since you didn't sound too interested on the headers.

Let me put it this way: For that price you will be really stupid not to buy them.

Yes they will fit your car.

 

I would resell them and wait until Greddy comes out w/their headers for the Accord V6 which will fit the TL.

 

if you look at the dyno it isn't a different story. the dyno says 18hp max gain at the wheels. i saw the dyno at a local shop here and i think it was in the 6k-6200 rpm range.

 

Yeah but the Greddy headers won't be as much as the Comptech headers are ($1,000) // a lil' overpricing eh?

 

We also don't know if the GReddy headers will make as much power. Granted, it's all top end, but the surge of power up there is pretty impressive. It's the first aftermarket header that I've ever put on a car that's made such a difference.

Although, it could just be that the stock exhaust manifold is poorly designed, in which case even a slightly improved design would net gains. I guess we'll have to wait and see when GReddy's is released.

 

I just e-mailed Greddy yesterday about when the headers are gonna be available and how much...I'll post a reply when they respond...can't wait though.
