I lost faith in Comptech when my springs rusted and I had to spend $$$ to change them back to stock. I should've went with H&R in the first place.

What about RIPP Modifications though? ... Did they ever go through with their designing of the supercharger on the TL...or did not one person volunteer for that?

I was lucky to find an icebox online. $275 shipped, but I don't have the cash for the damn headers, so I guess I'll have to live without em.

This really sucks.

There were pictures posted long age showing the Comptech springs broken into halves being too rusted. The Comptech stainless steel brake line kit is basically the same kit made by Goodridge. $$$, high quality, what a joke.

This is really crappy news. I wish I lived close by so I could see them before they close. Does anyone have pictures of their actual facility? I always wondered what that place looked like but could never find pics of it.

Comptech Update

Being a authorized Comptech dealer I can tell you what is going on right from the horses mouth. The rumored closing is absolutly true. Everything is for sale. They are selling desks, machines, inventory, furniture. etc. I talked to my sales rep today and this is what he told me. On Friday they were forced to let 12 people go. The company has been in trouble the last 2 years due to declining sales. The people seem to want high quality performance mods but at discount prices. Because other people do alot of the actual manufacturing of their parts they have move overhead and expense then you might think. Also becuase of this trouble alot less parts were in stock which led to long shipping delays. They are still open for the time being. They have a skeleton crew there to fill orders which are in stock. If the part is not in stock then your money will be refunded along with a note stating why. Don't get your hopes up guys - they are not giving the stiff away. I might be making them an offer to buy the TL exhaust inventory - if the price is right.

If you currently have a supercharger on your car your not totally out of luck. The blower is made by Paxon. You should be able to get parts for them from the manufacture. You might even see Paxon sell the supercharger kit under their brand name. I belive Comptech has lost alot of back end money that they were making on the racing end. I belive they were at one time prepping Honda race engines (maybe even CART engines). They will be open untill ends are tied up. I don't belive any new orders are being taken. If I do purchase a part of the inventory I will post a thread. Losing Comptech is a huge blow to Honda and Acura tuning. There are not many companies that produce high quality items for our cars. Was there stuff expensive yes. Is there stuff out there as good - not much. I feel the price of Comptech items will go through the roof once they are closed (ala Mugen). You will not realize how good you had it untill its gone.

i don't wish any ill will upon comptech or their employees, in fact i wish they hadn't had to get into this situation, but i really think your last comment there is a little cocky. we can still get springs, intakes, brakes and exhaust mods elsewhere. just because they don't say comptech doesn't mean they're crap. in fact i would argue that after my comptech springs AND my swaybars rusted and broke from manufacturing defects and they refused to help me that some of us realized how good we DIDN'T have it from them.

My statement was not made to sound cocky. Its not good when ANY manufacture of parts for our cars closes its door. The more that close the less choices you have. I did not say that the parts that were not Comptech are crap, but there is alot of cheap universal stuff out there. I have found the quality of their stuff to be real nice. I will now have to step up and get Mugen stuff and that costs even more. I was just saying that for the people that choose to use only high end stuff on their cars - it sucks.

I've been trying to get throught to them for a couple days just so I can order some quiet tip inserts and I've had no luck. Maybe I'll just try ordering them from the site.

I posted in the 3rd gen thread about this, but it is not good news. They were definitely a pricey company, but a decent one for aftermarket support. Joe what charger are you referring to by RIPP?

^ a while back, there was a thread boasting the TSX pushing about 350HP. Someone was supposed to volunteer so that some sort of prototype for our car would hopefully come into production if conditions were right. The kit was proposed to put down 100whp or so where as comptech as we already know puts down 46-65 whp depending on the car. Here is the thread I was talking about:

Well RIPP loook like they never pulled through, and our only other option that I had herd about, , hasn't been around for a while now. Depressing.
