Comptech Closing!
I just read this in the 3rd gen forum. It's true. Comptech is going out of business!

This is terrible....I was wondering why my e-mail to them was returned undeliverable the other day. I just haven't had a chance to call yet. Know I've been trying to get in touch with them about a S/C and some quiet inserts.

Well if they dont have any real staff anymore...I have a feeling they will probably just liquidate at an auction or just on location....meaning no shipping no online orders....
It does suck though, big time. It wouldn't be so bad if they were bought out, but just closing it doors? Harsh!
I'm just glad I didnt invest in a few grand for a S/C and have no support or replacement parts in the near or foreseeable future

thats what comptech gets for offering ridiculous prices.... i mean for the price of all the mods, a person can just buy a type s or a faster car.. seriously... its not like we are getting insane amounts of hp .. like 100 or 75... we are only increasing it by like wat... 15/10/20 ? lol....
and for the supercharger well.. most supercharges give out approx the same hp increase, but i think the supercharger price is standard.... and not overpriced

Lastly, have you read any of the posts on this board regarding modifications before you posted this? With our rather fragile transmissions and the huge amount of torque steer if you put too much power to the front wheels, what kind of balance / handling / reliability would you have if you added 100 WHP to a TL?

You can find cheaper parts (ie headers) because those companies will 'reverse engineer' Comptech parts and will not doing any CARB certification testing. Now ... good luck with R&D with aftermarket performance parts for Acuras (like a TL).

It's not the end of the world guys... honestly there will always be something better in the future. Better parts, better quality, ect ect. Just give it time, I'm sure this will not be the last time we see a company make top of the line stuff for our cars
For those of you that have a charger and have nowhere to get replacement parts in the future... well i guess that does suck and you are more than welcome to

...they are on a liquidation sale, does liquidation mean keep high prices? cuz obviously their prices are still a lot higher than competitors.

I hear HR Springs are better than Comptech anyway..I love mine! ..but I know that Acura supports Comptech products, so this could be a huge negative. I assume another performance company will pick them up and some rebranding will go down...I'm thinking Comptech will now be hmmmm...could it be....Eibach???

it sucks that they are close...some of their parts worth every penny...but can't help it when they spent large amount to r&d parts such as the 2nd gen tl header and some of us are bitching how expensive it is and bought the knockoff version such as megan.

x2, sucks because their quality was unmatched, prices were not overboard, you simply pay for what you get, ive only had good luck with theyre parts, sad to see them go.

ok, this is where i have to disagree with alot of the opinions in this thread.
YES, comptech makes great stuff BUT....::putsonflamesuit:: you guys are sitting there saying it's ok for them to charge $1300 for $50 worth of mandrel bent stainless steel tubing. it's NOT ok. they recouped their R&D costs long long ago on all of their 2nd gen TL products. $500, i could see, you know what, even $700 i could live with, but $1300, cmon. and if i recall wasn't it $1500 a year or two ago?
now i'm not saying they don't deserve to be fairly compensated for their work, but i think it should be reasonable. even stillen only charges $900 for their headers.
now this argument may not necessarily apply to something like their superchargers given how rare something like that is and how many pieces you get in the kit. so for the purpose of this conversation i'm bitching about their headers.

Their headers and exhaust was overpriced. I thought they were pretty fair about the S/C, IceBox, and most of their other products.
They got their fair share from me: I have CompTech mufflers and an IceBox but XS headers...

My exhaust is up for sale! $800 takes it. Haha
But yea, my hopes of maybe getting a s/c mid summer, after sweating away at my job, is now dashed. Time to sell ye old TL.
