Comptech Catback installtion problem

Hey all,

Installed my comptech catback exhaust the other day,

When I arrived to pick my car up, the Service Advisor and the Tech mentioned that there was something wrong with the B-pipe.

They showed me the B-Pipe, this is hitting the crossbar/cross member, just before it connects to the mufflers.. This is making the right side ( passenger ) muffler too low and the left side ( driver side to high up and over to the left ). If we didn't fix/correct the angles of the mufflers, the Left Side (driver side) would be to far over, hitting the bumper, where the cut out is for the exhaust tips.

To get the mufflers somewhat even, the B-pipe had to be pushed as far up ( hitting/rubbing ) against the crossbar/cross member.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and if so, what was done, i.e. did they return the item, or just deal with it...

Any Help?

Thanks

Thanks for you inputs..

My thoughts exactly, "fitment issue"..

I bought the item on-line autocarparts.. They are working with comptech to see what they can do for me?

Waiting to hear back from them.

For those people that do have the b-pipe from comptech, how do the mufflers sit and how does the b-piping sit from the heat shields...

My understanding, is that the gap should be around 3/4 to an inch away from the heat shields?

I installed my comptech axle backs today and the passenger rear side is sitting too far to the left, it's hitting the bumper also. The driver side fits perfectly in the middle of the cutout, but the passenger side is hitting . Any word back about your situation? Please help.

he had teh cat back and you have the axel back.

many have had a uneven hang with the comptech. there are acouple things you can try. many have gotten away with a ziptie on the muffler hanger to help straighten them out. or you can go to a muffler shop and ask for shorter rubber hangers to try to lift it straight

yeah thanks for the reply. it's Always great to hear answers. I tried the re-seating the bolts holding the muffler where I want it and I got it closer. My problem isn't so much a height issue its the left and right being offcenter. Its 2 inches closer towards the center of my bumper than the driver side is. it's still offcenter but now its about an inch lower than the other side as well. I'm going to try tomorrow when I actually have light to see what I'm doing. I hope I have the right pipes. I was looking for a model # on them but only see the generic comptech logo. I guess I am worried I have the CL versions or maybe the accord versions?
Thanks again.

okay this is what i went thru:
-oem muffler don't line up, driver side is higher than passenger side
-took it to dealer, they say is they don't warranty this type of work
-bought a mugen axle back exhaust, put them on, looks okay but it goes more up than stock, took it to a muffler shop, they say they could heat it up and bent it down the driver side, looks good at first but couple months later i went up again.
-had to repaint the bottom of the lip kit because it scratch the paint where the tip sit. could hardly tell but it bothers me.
-took it to my friends place, he adjusted it for me, it sit perfect now.
-bought a comptech b-pipe right after they release them
-took it to my friend's place to have it install, i could do it myself but is better just let him do it since they got the lift.
-after installation of the b-pipe the muffler is off again. he then readjust them the second time.

wow those look amazing. Mine just look funny because one is crooked/offcenter. I think I might sell this set and just fork over the money for the whole full catback direct from comptech and be done with this mess. I'll give it one more shot tomorrow. I dont feel much like "jurry rigging" it to make it look right, if it doesn't fit right I'll order another set I guess. The B-pipe might change the mount up angle possibly.

i don't think you need to sell and buy the whole cat back, because i bought just the b-pipe only from them when they just came out, the b-pipe was around 420 i think, i am pretty sure most shops could adjust it for you.

mine is on the quiet side, it doesn't sound like aftermarket exhaust at all, it has a loop that pass thru the muffler twice. i got a really light foot (30% most on the vafc display) so i don't know how it sound at higher rpms.

light foot is only on this car (19's and potholes), i drive very aggressive with my work truck
