CLS wheels void warranty?

Went to the local Acura dealer and test drove a CLS 6spd. I have a 2000 TL-P and mentioned to the salesperson that I put type S rims on the car recently. She goes 'you know you just voided your warranty'. I tell her I don't think so. I mention that things only void warranty work if they can prove that they caused the problem. Then she tells me that Acura told her that putting type S wheels on premiums screws with the VSA and therefore voids warranties. Anybody get this line from anywhere else?

She's full of crap. VSA and ABS might get screwed up if your wheels/tires are too small, other than that, by putting CLS rims on TL-P is fine. Freakin' dealers, they want to get away with everything, maybe you can ask her if the warranty will be void if you put the spear tire on.

Well actually, yes, we all know that CLS rims will fit on all the P. BUT, she isnt BSing, Acura DO have a bulliten saying "DO NOT PUT THE TYPE-S RIMS ON THE P, SUCH DOING "MAY" CAUSE THE TERMINATION OF THE WARRANTIES". But still, it will only void the warranties of the parts that caused by the rims.... therefore, IF your rims, suspensions have problems, then ACURA MIGHT void the warranties.....

But most dealers, they dont care with mods, if you have mods, as long as that part didnt cause the problems and plus, if you have some major break down, as long as you put all the factory stuff back on before bringing the car back, they will just pretend they have never seen the mods before.

So, theory wise, she was right.... just that she doesnt know how to pleased her customer! I think you should go back and tell you, DO NOT tell your customer what to/not to do BEFORE they purchase the car.

If anything ever happens to your car, just change the wheels back to your stockers before taking you car in for service. Hmmm..another good reason to keep them stockers!

All I'm thinking is... "I thought the TL-P didn't have VSA... hmm."

I know, I know, it has TCS, right?

So I guess when a dealer tries to fix up a showroom model and sell it with all the options(wheels included), I guess that car has a voided warrantee too, right?

I've had CL-S rims on my car ever since the CL-S came out. My dealer has not given me any issues about it and my warranty work was still done. Upgrdaes and modifications of any kind will not void your warranty UNLESS they are PROVEN to be the cause of your damage or claim (ie if a SuperCharger blows a bolt into your engine and messes up the engine, no warranty, but id you put on aftermarket rims and your electricalt system freaks...that is still covered by warranty) I think the dealer is just staying conservative but should explain in detail what she meant. Sounds like she's just scaring you...and it worked.
