Clay bar....?

I have 3 coats of Zaino Z-2 and 3 coats of Z-5 so far and I haven't used a claybar yet. Can I use a clay bar over my existing progress or do I need to start over with the steps(Dawn wash, etc..)?

Yes you have to start all over again. You must first wash the car with dawn, then claybar, then wash again with dawn, and Zaino again. Trust me, its worth it. I didnt do the claybar at first either, and my car is a '99. But after i did i could really see a difference.

you can ask sal to be sure, but I believe isoprosal (can't spell work a damn) alcohol is much more effective at stripping the Z than dawn, but dawn works pretty well and is much easier to use.

I may sound a little ignorant here, but i was thinking about trying to do all this on my 99 but I have no idea what the process is and I really don't want to mess up the paint on the car, Anyone wanna help me out and explain the right way to go about using a clay bar and Zaino and all that (you may want to go ahead and dumb it down real good for me, b/c I have a feeling i am not gonna really grasp it by just reading it )

Scott P,

I would suggest trying a search on Zaino. I remember somebody posting very detailed instructions not so long ago.

really hard to screw up paint with clay and zaino. As long as your clay bar remains clean and the applicators for the zaino are clean you can't scratch your paint which is the biggest issue.

This is a good resource for deailing:

What the hell is a clay bar... I just picture someone with a piece of clay that looks like a bar of soap rubbing it on the TL... HAHAHA
