Post CL-S Rims

I have a friend that acquired 4 CL-S rims with brand new tires on them. He did not steal them, but acquired them because he works at Acura here in Austin, and some guy with a CL-S bought some new rims and replaced them at the dealership and left them there.

I was wondering what you guys think about me purchasing them. He wants $500 for them.

Sorry guys, I was mistaken... I just talked to my friend and he wants $700 for them w/tires. $500 without tires...

I'm really thinking about buying them, but not really sure if they are going to look right on my car, bc my car is silver. I guess the only way I will know is to mount them on my car.

Thats a GREAT deal. Take em! Then turn and sell the rims to one of your fellow TL bros like MikeS or Mafiosso who have been searching long and hard for them.
**NOTE: The wheel/tire combo won't work for the TL with out rubbing, but can be used seperately; rims with different tires and tires on a 17" rim with a different offset. Have fun!

Hey Boba....Did you try the factory tires on the car and then settle with the 45 series tire to avoid the rub?

If I haven't dropped my car and put the TL-S rims on, will the tires rub?

i know that at least one TL online has 6gen accord rims on it, so if the backspace is similar, which it should be, it should work the way it does on the TL...
on the TL- RIMS FIT, but because of offset, cannot use stock CL-S tires, need to go smaller profile. CL-S rims are 17"diameter, 7" width, and 55mm offset. check that against accord specs. hope that helps.

YU888, your TL looks great! Before I decided to wait for the 2002 TL Type S, my plans were to get a 2001 TL and put the 17" CL-S wheels on them. Glad to be able to see a TL with them on it beforehand. Your car looks great! I hope Acura decides to use those same rims on the Type S....my brother has a 2000 TL and he sold the stock wheels and put the on the 2001 CL base wheels...makes the car look much better, but I prefer the CL-S wheels on the TL.
Also, the Inspire taillights look nice too...they look better than the standard ones on the silver color...but dont know the cost or where to find....probably expensive I would imagine.
I am hoping the 2002 Type S TL has the front end headlight look as the current CL...but the back end of the CL is a joke...

yu888,

Hey, is your car dropped and if so then by how much? I ordered Comptech springs so I'm wondering if the tires will rub. Will the tires rub w/o the drop?

Also, if you go with lower profile tires then the speedometer is going to be off, and the mileage on your car will go up faster. Just a thought.

Yea, your car looks good. Thanks a lot for posting your pic. You guys are fantastic in helping your fellow brothers out.

So do the tires rub on the upper control arm? I figured that would be the only place where it would rub.
Do you think maybe there is a way to covert our stock suspension and modify it with the CL-S suspension to make more room? Just a thought. I will do some research on that.

The sketch of the '02 TL-S from automotivenews.com (here's the link, thanks to slavik13!: http://www.autonews.com/html/main/st...cepts1207.htm)
seems to show the current CL-S rims on the car. The only thing is that I wish Acura hadn't choosen such a non-standard size for the CL-S tire (215/50/17). The only tire I can find in that size from Tirerack and Tire depot is that same stock Michelin tire.

dragon- car is dropped about 1.5" frt, 1" rear. no, the car does not rub at all. i got this advice from bobatimez, whose car looks way cool. SHould not rub with standard height, but the gap will look stupid then since the profile is changed. the lower profile does increase the speedo and odometer, but if i really want to, i can have it recalibrated. for now, it makes me drive safer =)...its off by about 3-4 mph at 65 from what i can tell based on the tach.

I think if you can get a spacer put in then the tires will not rub. Hopefully, there is a spacer that is just big enough to where the tires don't rub on the fender.

I am going to call tirerack to find out.

I did calculations on the difference in diameter with the 215/45/17 tires and there is a 5% difference. That is too big for me to settle for lower profile tires. I personally think the tires look too small. I think the best way to fix this problem is to get spacers, but I don't know if there are spacers that would fit. If anyone has info on this, I would greatly appreciate it.
