I have a 2000 TL and was curious what the 2001 model year added or changed. I know the 2002 will have the S model with a different front and rear but I wonder what I am missing already...

The 2001 TL has "Floor Mats" as standard equipment (I got the floormats thrown in for free in my 2000 TL) and also a trunk release handle inside the trunk (no biggie !)....so you miss nothing in your 2000 TL..

I am from Kingston ON Canada...and I have a 2000 acura tl. The TL I got, which is a 2000 model, came with floor mate and TRUNK RELEASE already...

either I got a special 2000 model TL or people buying the 2001 TL got ript off.

Which one is right??????

 

Don't forget that '01 models also have the added peace of mind and build quality that comes from Acura's experience in building tens of thousands of TLs already.

As 2nd year model cars usually have less problems than 1st year, I would infer that the '01 is built the best yet...

I would have got a '97 528i instead, but that was 1st year for the car and owners were complaining of squeaks, rattles, and little stuff going wrong. The '98 fixed all of that, but I didn't want to spend that much - so, '01 TL!

BUT, if you had bought towards the end of the year, you would have got essentially the same thing (ie., after Acura gained experience from building tens of thousands of TLs) at a much lower clearance price..of course there is the issue of depreciation, but the car is exactly the same....if the 2001 TL had memory seats and the 6-disc in-dash CD-changer, then I would have been singing a different tune...

SaabCaptian. The 2001 has minor changes like a emergency trunk release, and I believe the power mirror control has a backlite. The 2001 US model also comes with floor mats (that was already included in Canadian 2000 models). That's all I know.

 

I got my 2000 in February and I have the emergency trunk release.
