Cigarette Lighter/Power Point Problem

Hey,

Last night, while my friend was unplugging his car charger from my cig lighter (I know it's really just a power point), the entire piece it plugs into came forward. It's still connected via the wires, but it's loose. How is that round metal piece that you plug stuff into held in? Is it glue? Is there a screw behind the dash? Thanks!!

It's really that complicated? I can't just glue it back in myself?

no its not glued in...there is a metal piece that is screwed on over the inside lighter piece...this usually happens when someone twists their wrist when pulling out an accessory power plug...you have to pull the console apart to fix this....DONT glue it...the console isnt hard to get apart but some parts can be easily broken...good luck...can give ya a little more detailed instructions in getting the console apart if youre interested...HTH

Hey, Thanks for replying! I actually couldn't take it anymore (I hate the idea of something not being perfect in my TL) and crazy glued it an hour ago. It seems fine now. Why shouldn't I have glued it? How could I fix it normally? what's inside there that holds it in? And, my friend swears he didnt do anything wrong and didn't break it -- did he? Thanks!!

well you shouldnt have glued it cause thats not the way it attaches. there is a inner piece that unscrews to the back piece to hold it in place. you shoulda taken the console out and seen if it was broken or not.

If it was broken, what's the big deal as long as the piece is really tightly glued in?
