can anyone tell me how too reset the check engine light when it comes on? i also want to know where do they get the hand held computer from that plugs into that connection under the radio to retrieve our check engine codes from? can i buy it from a local store and about how much does it cost?

 

well it all depends on the problem. first instead of trying to reset it you should probably find out what teh issue is. you can buy the scan tools at most auto parts stores. as for how to reset it. disconect teh neg battery cable for 10 min or so. but before doing that make sure you have your radio code

 

yeah i just had it the dealer and told what the problem was. but he claim the mechanic had reset it but i dont think so. it not my tranmission or anything like but my c/c which i will get replace soon. thanks

If your code was P0420, mine gets that all the time, mainly when it rains. I have seen nothing happen to my e-check numbers, so I just borrow a handheld from one of the guys at work (he keeps his in his trunk) and reset it when it comes on. The c/c cost from my dealer was estimated at $1800-$2000, so forget doing that. . .
