my check engine sign keeps coming back. I had it removed twice and every time I had it checked for codes nothing would come on .. I know my battery is very weak so i was thinking could that be the reason it keeps coming back? Or..???

any help is appreciated thx!

in Canada, is there any auto stores that can check out the CEL and battery voltage?

we cannot tell you whats going on with your car unless you get those two things checked out.
if it is throwing a code, we need to know what code it is throwing.

go get those two items checked, and come back

I'm not asking if anyone knows whats wrong with my car.

And if you read what I wrote. I said, I had it checked and no codes come on.

The battery is weak so I wanted to know if that is why my check engine comes on that's all.

the only way to find out is to go and get it tested!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!

if it is indeed weak, and you get it changed....see if your check engine light comes back on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if it comes back on, then you will know that its not the battery.

not the CEL.
the battery!!!!!

Please get the battery tested to see if its weak.
if its weak, change out the battery to a new one.
then, see if your CHECK ENGINE LIGHT comes back on.

Also, check the connections to the battery to see if they are not loose.

change out the battery and find out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

all this time, you could have just changed the battery and found out if the CEL is related or not.

search! would be the fastest way of knowing if others had this problem.

and you could easily change out the battery and find out real quick if they are related....just sayin.

YES It totally relates
when batt voltage is low, the sensors dont get or send the right signals

the car runs funny, could throw a light with no codes (assuming you have or can access a obdiII code reader and using to reset)

Note: we can reset the ecu by removing the CLOCK fuse on passenger end of dash- for a minute and reinsert,
instead of removing batt neg cable- which forces you to enter radio security code.
nothing in radio or seat memories get erased when using CLOCK FUSE method

you stated the battery is VERY WEAK
thats your answer,,it will screw with many things

Do ck alternator performance after batt change, sometimes the alt gets hurt making up for lost batt capacity

Winter is hard on the batt, cold, more demand from lights-heater-seat heat etc
3-4 years on most brands and its due for replacement

Also ck the main cables to batt, and the several small ground wires around engine to frame
rusty connection doesnt work very well
Main battery wires crudded inside their case,,same thing,,bad news for voltage transfer
If there was a prob with gunk buildup on battery post,,think new cables~

Could be the battery OR the alternator. The car only really needs the battery to start the engine or run accessories with the engine off.
Once the engine (and alternator) are turning the battery is pretty much along for the ride as part of the cars electrical "grid'. if the battery has enough to start the engine there must be some sort of current/voltage resistance somewhere else in the line.
Get the alternator checked too. NOTE: it may work fine when cold but not when hot -or not.
Good luck and get the car to a qualified tech.

I recommend investing the money to get a small OBDII scanner. I keep one in the pocket right behind my seat and it has more than paid for itself in quick diagnostics.
