Angry Check Engine Light! Please HELP

Hey Guys-

I was driving on I-35 from Dallas to Austin today and was passing a semi at about 95 MPH and all of a sudden, the CHECK ENGINE light starts to blink.

I think, "oh crap" and am planning on pulling over to the shoulder. I make my way to the right lane and the light stops blinking. So I go on and get back to UT.

Why did this happen? Should I be worried? Please give me any advice or information you guys can offer. Thanks!

Burt

P.S. Let's hope the BCS formulas don't screw the LONGHORN football team out of a chance in the Rose Bowl this year! Hook 'em!

The check engine light signals when there is a problem with the emissions system, O2 sensor, PCV or something along those lines. The car will continue to run but maybe not as well as it should. Since the light just blinked a few times and you say you were passing at 95mph it could have been carbon build up blowing out. No need to worry about it unless the light comes on and stays on then just take in and have the dealer check it out.

Whenever the check engine light is on or any warning lamp is on the various systems in the car have sensed a failure and this should be addressed by your dealer.Your car may function normally or appear to but this is part of the magic of computers.Have you dealer look at this asap just in case.Jens
