check engine light! code 0306
I got a check engine light and took it to autozone to get the code and see what it is, the guy there hooked it up and it came out to be a misfire in cylinder 6, i recently changed my spark plugs to the ngk iridium plugs about 12,000 miles ago, what else can it be?
which one is cylinder #6? What should i look for?
thanx

ouch, a misfire really hurts your engine. sorry, that's all i know. someone here will yield more answers.
did you torque your plugs right? that's the only thing i can think of. ... but i'm sure if that was the problem, you would have already known.

The wierd thing is , it is running ok now, but i think i will change over to the factory specified plugs just to be on the safe side. It might be my coil pack over cylinder 6 also, don't those go bad or do they last forever?

well could my timing belt cause this misfire because i have like 117,000 miles on my car now and i have not changed it yet? Should i do the timing belt and water pump change?

its not your timing belt. dont go and change all 6 plugs. just buy 1 and change cyl #6. if it still does it its probably a coil pack going bad.

IIRC the service schedule calls for a timing belt change at 105K, so I'd do that if I were you. I doubt it's causing a misfire, but since it's time I'd change the belt anyway.

I don't know if I'm right, but based on how you find which cylinder is which on the old V8's, #6 should be the one closest to you next to the oil fill cap. If the engine is noticably rough at idle, you could pull the cover over the coil pack electrical connectors and unplug that coil. If the engine doesn't change how it runs, you go the right one, if it does get worse, plug it back in.....

Was #6 where I guessed it was?
