Check Eng Light + TCS

On sunday i was driving down the free way and my Check eng light and TCS light came one. I pulled the codes and got P0401 which is Insufficient EGR Flow. Why are both lights comming on at the same time. How can i pull the code for the tcs light. Taking the neg term. off the batt clears the codes. I am having the erg replaced this weekend. Only maint done was on sat. I changed the spark plugs.

99 TL 68K MILES.

clearing the codes does not fix the problem
not all code readers will read everything
What spark plugs did you use?
Hows the transmission acting- any slipping or longer delay into D that normal?

Dealer covered the cost, Since the recall for the ERG was not done to my car.

I used NGK Iridium IX.

Cant say i noticed any slipping, But i have started to notice a "clunking" sound when i put it into gear.

Will pay more attention and feel for slipping.

clunking is not good- ask the dealer about it- drop by to tell the Service Manager thank you for taking car of the warranty prob. Ice cream bars- popsicles or morning donuts for the crew ($5) are a nice gesture and generate Goodwill on other things

the 99s had that recall- the rest of us have to remove the manifold and clean it ourselves

According to this excerpt from the tranny sticky it may be normal:

"Mechanical noise when selecting a forward or reverse gear. It's normal to hear a slight mechanical noise when moving the shift lever from one gear to another. This noise can sound abnormally loud if any of the windows are down and you are parked next to a wall or another vehicle."
