Check this drain plug out

So last week i notice some oil near the bolt when doing an oil change. I think of the worst and it turns out true... the threads are stripped. So i ended up using some teflon tape and it worked for a few days. Now theres a little bit of a leak and i'm not inclined to pay 600 for someone to take it off and retap ot. So theres this...

Would part number 1030 all the way at the bottom work? Has anyone seen the inside of the pan? Is there enough clearance to use this plug?

did you read tHE NOT FOR VW OR HONDA NEEDS 1 5/8 CLEARANCE INSIDE OILPAN

I would find out what size plug we have then get the next size up in over sized plugs and either get a tap and tap it yourself, or find a small garage to do it for you. Its not that hard. just get some cheap oil and fill it up after wards and pull the plug to help flush it out. Also grease the tap. It will catch alot(if not most) of the shavings

Yes i read that and the question has still now been answered... is there or is there not enough room inside of the 2000 TL oil pan for that?

I'll prolly just end up going to the next size... our stock is M14x1.5 right? So whats the next step up... has anyone done this themselves?

Well im guessing that since it says not for honda it wont work. Our oil pan is fairly small.

as for the bolt size? i couldnt locate it in the manual. I would take it off and bring it to a auto parts store and ask. for teh next size up. they will tell you. Ive done it in the past (not on this car) and isnt hard

Go to Pep Boy's counter and tell them what happened & they will give you the right part. I went in last time I changed my oil so I could get a new washer & ended up buying the bold & washer together. Anyway, they asked me if the threads were stripped and were ready to give me the oversized bolt so I know they would have the right one for you.

Use the part 1082 would be better if you have to. This part is carried in the auto part store.
