also, underdrive pulley is fairly inexpensive depending on your labor options. from what is said here, seems like it might be the best gain for the money.

i would say pulleys are probably the cheapest power because it provides usable power even in the lower rpms

Do a search there are a billion threads on this. It really depends on the end goal-sound, power, both. Comptech Icebox delivers the most stock sound, and slightly more hp, read slightly. AEI is a throatier sound, I went with the icebox as I don't need the neighborhood knowing when I am driving down the street.

I was talking about the airbox resonator....not much power I know. didn't think of the exhaust resonator, but that might give a small gain too.

and yeah, I forgot to type "crank" in my pulley sentence....

a resonator doesn't really give that much hp...a true CAI will give about 4-5.....if that.....

it makes a realllyy nice sound if you remove the resonator. the air suction is crazy at higher rpm's. but if youre just looking for increase in power, than its not much at all. but if you want to do a CAI dont you have to remove the resonator anyways? so that the CAI can go all the way to the bottom?

I believe the biggest bank for the buck is a cold-air induction system. Should add about 10 HP. I've got the Comptech one. Look at the Comptech web site for dyno results. After that, without major engine mods, is cat-back exhaust. But it cost about $1000 (not just the two rear mufflers but from the converter back) and only adds at the most another 10 HP. I have heard that adding both the air induction and cat-back exhaust is complementary so that the net increase of both is more than each individually. Next are headers which cost around another $1000 plus installation. If you have driveway mechanic savy you can do the intake and exhaust yourself but the headers are much more complicated and you may need to raise the car more than you can in your garage.

sorry a cat back on our cars doesnt add much at all...I mean 2 or 3 whp. Best bang for the buck is either the UR crank pulley or some headers. They woke my engine up to say the least, much more fun to drive now. Also, removing the resonator has to add HP. I mean look at what your engine was breathing through before then after...95% the same design as the Comptech Icebox. I did that before my headers, and I swear there was more HP up high, just like a new intake.

So save your money, get a K&N filter and take off the intake resonator.

edit...a full exhaust, header and cat back will be worthwhile if you have forced induction (supercharger or Turbo), other than that, our stock exhaust (header back) is pletty free flowing.

there's an incredible, noticeable kick when you remove the resonator and pop in a K&N Filter, which goes for 35-50 dollars. definitly the cheapest. and the engine roars and sounds beautiful. took me less than half an hour to remove resonator and another 10 minutes to drive out to pepboys to cop me a brand new k&n filter.

Cheapest power? Test pipe!!! Take off your cat and put a staright pipe, you will notice a big ass gain. The only down fall is you will get a check engine light.
