Charcoal Cabin Air Filter

Im fairly new to acurazine (just registered today but i have been looking at the diy's for a few months now) and thought id share a lil something with the 2nd gen. tl community. I recently bought a set of these cabin air filters on ebay for only $15 with shipping. theyre actually better than the regular junk you would buy at the dealership 'cause these ebay filters use activated charcoal in them. ive installed these once about a year and a half ago and they work 10x better than stock. heres the link if youre interested. the seller usually has a few of these in stock but if he doesnt, just shoot him an email. hope this was helpful. heres the link:

Just buy the correct filter at your local parts store
The Bosch with micro allergen are very good- found from 12 to 17 dollars
If you must have charcoal- which does also help- get it in capsules at the drug store and open a few onto the filter. Keep the rest for when you party too much- take 2 with lots of water and it absorbs gas and toxins in the stomach- same stuff they give to overdose patients- uses as air filter!

Yeah, but for $15 shipped? You can't beat that- I paid more for regular filters locally.

the azine rules/MODS dont allow ebay links- if you want to say you have found a product and have used it - its great- then give the sellers bay name
By purchasing small items at the local parts store- they stay in business and are there when I need them.
For essentially the same price----
and does yours have Micro Allergen protection sprayed onto the filter- or JUST the charcoal?

Just get the regular white gauze one's. Napa sells them. charcoal is harder to tell when its dirty.

Activated charcoal is awesome. They don't make one for my 3G so I had to get creative with a 2G filter. I used to drive by a dairy every day and it makes a noticable difference in smells. The car always smells cleaner. Worth every penny.

I made my own using the anti fungal Bosch filter for 17$ at autozone, and opened 4 charcoal capsules (5$ 100) and spread it into the paper
Tell if its dirty? Change it every year- like the book says- along with the brake fluid, and my sugestion of Seafoam once a year

Is it a powder? Does it fall off the filter?
The link is still shown in the 1st post- seems like it would have been deleted- ?

i think hes talking about charcoal crystals. wouldnt they fall off the filter media since theyre installed sideways into the cabin filter assembly?

OPEN the charcoal capsule and gently rub the charcoal substance into the paper filter element. Then it wont fall out!

Thats a good question on Lysol- I think its more a short term effect product, AND being liquid spray, may not be good for the filter
The bosch stuff is applied with glue at the factory- to my knowledge- I call it glue- dont know what it is-
