changing timing belt

so they charge $700 +/hr? I thought the cost was so high because the amount of labor time involved...? thats shit if they charge so much an it only takes an hour or so

When the dealer does the Timing belt they usually recomend you replace the H2O pump due to location. There is more time involved when changing you the H2O pump(getting at it isnt easy) then having to dry every thing up and refill the motor/radiator. Still not worth 700 bucks but part of that is for the belt and pump

when changing the belt DO U have to change the water pump....or can u leave it for a longer period...

you dont have to cahnge it. Its just recomended due to age (suppose to change belt at 100k) and if you need to change the H2O pump down the road you have to remove teh T-Belt to get to is, so its easier to do all at once
