Changing the seal and O ring tranny
Hi acurazine...
Just bought 2002 tl s.. But the the dealer said soon I need to replace the o ring and the tranny seal.
So what should I get if the dealer wants to pull out the tranny??
Maybe a flywheel???
Sorry if my English and grammar not very good..
Thanks in advance for the reply..

Welcome.
More than likely they are gonna take out the tranny might as well do both tranny and rear main seal for the engine. No need for a flywheel our cars use a flexplate.
Whats the condition of the transmission ?

Are you changing it because the dealer "wants" to.....or because there's an oil leak? I would not change it until it leaks....perhaps years down the road.

I had it check at the dealer...and they said that soon there's gonna be a oil leak from the seal and o ring from the tranny. So what I meant is..if I am gonna do this at the dealer might as well doing the flywheel or change the clutch..

Right now is ok...just waiting for the oil leak. And the dealer said that soon I need to change the seal.

So let me get this straight....it is not leaking oil now....but the dealer looked into his MAGIC CRYSTAL BALL which told him it will leak very soon?
And you fell for this?
I wish I had a dealership!

Hahahaha...like I said that I don't know anything about tl-s.
Cause I bought this car from a friend and he found it at the insurance company auto yard and I did the car fax on it.everything in mint condition. And it was sitting there for about 11 years. The insurance company got iit cause it was stolen on 2002 and they rip all the electronic in it. And the insurance took it to acura dealer and fix the electronic for 1 year. And right now everything works. So I took it to the acura and change the timing belt and tune up..and they said about the tranny seal thing..

Welcome Nestil !!!
As Victus1 previously stated, there's no real necessity to do repairs unless there is an actual problem evident.
If in any doubt and still have a concern, take the car to an independent shop for another opinion.
Is this the same dealership that "fixed" the ripped up electronics ?
How many miles are on the car ? If the car was indeed sitting for 11 years, it must be almost like brand new.
Take the car elsewhere for checking things over. Dealerships are notorious for gouging prices on repairs such as T-belt replacement.
You can have any desired work done on your TL, at considerable savings by going to an experienced local mechanic, IMO.

If theres no oil residue on the engine and or transmission everything is ok. They just want your money plain and simple. The only time you should do the seals is if the transmission is done or if its gushing out oil.
11 years is alot, consider changing out the PCV valve to avoid the leak.
Look at the the floor were you parked if you see fresh oil spots then its time for a new seal.

First, do you have a manual? Automatic transmissions don't have a flywheel or clutch, so you don't need to service them.
More importantly, the dealership has NO idea of the condition of a seal without knowing it's leaking or visually inspecting it. They are just "guessing" that it can leak because the car is old. Definitely don't consider servicing it unless it starts to leak.

Like I said the car is in mint condition inside and out..the mileage almost 40.000 mile. And it's not the same dealer that fixed the electric and sensor that said about the tranny seal...thanks for the reply.

I'm ok with that..but it's just while they pull out the tranny is there any upgrade I can do with the tranny???
Right now I felt a little bit of hesitation from second to third gear...is that normal??

The only thing I would worry about would be the brake fluid engine oil and ATF.
More than likely you have Honda Z1 in there, even if its red do a drain and fill with 3 quarts to the updated Honda DW-1.

Well first you must investigate whats leaking, engine, trans or power steering before condemning anything.
