Changing lock beep
For those of you who do not know, the 2000-1 TL's have an electronic beep while the 99 TL has a horn beep when you press lock twice. Have any of you changed the 99 horn to the 2000's? How hard would it be to do and what do I need to buy. The reason I want to change it is because I find the 00's beep more classy. Thanks!

Same here! If I can change the locking sound on the double push of the lock button from the farting horn to a beep, I would do it in a sec!

The second press is just a confirm that the car is locked..one push of the lock button locks the car, the second time(within 5 secs) just makes a honk to let u know that it's locked.

First off, you guys that get a whole new alarm system because you don't like the SOUND it makes when you arm it are freaks and have way too many bejamins on your hands.
I'm with the beep crowd. The 2001 being my first TL, I was SOOO happy it didn't honk the horn or chirp when I armed it (the double-click method). Not only does that short horn make you wanna break the legs of the guy who's triggering it, but there's no reason for it.
My neighbor has one of the horn variety and it's so nice to hear him come home at 3am to arm his alarm a few times. *HONK* TIme to get up!
Kudos to Acura for figuring out a better way.

because you're not deaf?
If I understand you right, the alarm already had a perfectly good horn sound telling you that it was armed, but since you put in these super mofo horns, you figured it'd be cool to have the two horns match?
I hope that you only click that lock button once so the air-horns don't sound off each time you park your car. Try and be a wee bit considerate of others that may not be as hard of hearing as you.

I got the air horns not just because I want it louder, it's because I want to be different also. And yes, I do push my arm button twice when I am walking away from my car. When the compressor for the air horns is only on for 1/2 second, its sound isn't much louder than the stock horns, it's just different.
Just because you have a stock car doesn't mean all the TL owners have to be like you. And who are you to tell me that I am not considerate of others? Do you know me? Have you been following me around when I press my armed botton twice? Have you hard how loud my horns are?
I came into this topic to answer a question, not to be judge by someone like you.

Woah, easy Tex!
If you check again, YOU asked ME a question, and I answered it:
Looked like an invitation to state my opinion. Guess I was wrong.
I happen to think the TL doesn't need much tweaking to be a nice car. Others feel differently. I have no problem with that. I can ceratinly understand the want to make your car unique. I wasn't judging you, just letting you know that your horn of choice for the arming of your alarm is not very considerate. I'm not sure how you can disagree with that.
My guess would be that you got the air-horns because you want to generate attention. Which is not at all what I'm after in my TL, just a nice luxurious ride with a dash of sportiness thrown in.
That's why I have my TL like I want it, and you have your how you like it. The difference is mine doesn't make people jump when I park.

Again, I did not put the air horns in for the arming purpose. I put it in because I wanted a horn that's a little louder than stock.
And who are you to say that my horn of choice is inconsiderate when you have never even heard how loud mine horns are? Yes, it is loud when I push the regular horn button but it doesn't sound any louder when I "arm" it from the stock horn. The 1/2 second that the compressor is on does not give it time to general full compression to make the horns loud.
Basically, you are judging something that you have no knowledge of or experience with.
As for you saying that changing my horns to get attention. Hell yes, if some idiot is going to change into my lanes without looking, or backing out of a parking space without look, I want to make sure that person can hear my horn and hear it loud and clear.
Again, since you've never heard my air horns before when it "arms", I don't see how you can say that I am inconsiderate when you are the one that is judging me without knowing all the facts.
By the way, calling me inconsiderate IS judging me.

I have heard air horns before, I know what they sound like. They're loud.
I'm not talking about getting attention when you're in traffic, I'm talking about attention while you're arming your alarm. You could have left the stock arming sound in there and still put louder horns in for traffic situations.
Everyone's got a right to their opinion. Mine is that loud horns when they're not necessary are stupid. Live with my opinion, cuz God knows, people are living with yours.

You know what, I am going to be the bigger man and stop arguing this non-sense with you. I come to this board to answer people questions and we help each other out, not criticize others when you do not know all the facts.
I am greatful the you've heard air horns before, but have you heard it when someone use it as a arm fuction? Thank you.
