Angry Chalk up another to the tranny club!

Brought my car in because the tranny was constantly slipping from 3rd -> 4th, dealer took it for a ride (like i would be lying about it) and confirmed so they ordered me a new tranny as well as computer unit to go along with it. Bringing the car in on Monday and they should have it for 2 days.

Damn Acura trannys :flamer:

I know most people experience slippage when accelerating, but on more than one occasion I experienced hard downshifting. It was about a 50 mile trip and being almost home I hit traffic with one exit left and when i was braking from about 70mph (not hard) i was coming to a stop when it felt like someone rear-ended me....my friend and his gf (sitting in the back) turned around because they thought someone hit us. i was like WTF and my girlfriend was like did someone just hit us? Then i had to explain the who Acura bad-tranny story to them To make a long story short, i scheduled a service call the next day.

Strange that yours was the 3->4 upshift slipping. Most of the ones I've read about failing (including my own) was the 2->3 upshift. But no matter--it still sucks.....

has anyone had to replace tranny more than once, or is this a one-time fixer with no problems after? In other words is Acura doing anything to permanently fix this problem?

Although it is the exception rather than the rule, some people have replaced two and three transmissions, and I know of at least two members that are on their fourth one.

Brought my car into the dealer today (Rallye) and they had rented me a car from Enterprise for the day. When the guy came to pick me up he asked what kind of car, etc...typical chit chat. Then he asked why I brought it in and I told him for the tranny and he responded, 'man, I get a lot of those'. So we started BS'ing about it and he told me that they guy he picked up the other day had a '03 for 4 months and already was back for a new tranny.

So far the dealer has been handling it greatly...I just hope I'm not back again for a 2nd one.

On a side note i saw the TSX, hot looking car with great features...8'' navi screen nice backlite dash, and stylish looking interior...if only it was a V6. I know if it was it would compete or possibly replace the TL, but I could live with that....I was very impressed. It even had an option for a MP3 player and a rear seat entertainment center with dvd player etc....didn't see a price but still nice to have that dealer installed option.

sorry to hear about the tranny

when i lost my tranny in my maxima, i had problems shifting from 1st to 2nd. before i could take it in, i lost all of second gear. my would take off and then when it went to third all it did was rev like it was in neutral. i had to floor it and red line in first so i had enough speed so that i can skip second and go to third. if i didnt the car didnt have enough torque and would try to downshif into second
