The reason your eclipse had a catch can was to keep oily residue which leaves the engine from the valve cover valve from getting back into the intake and resulting in an oily film developing in your intercooler, I/C piping and turbo compression housing. I can't imagine using one on a non-turbocharged car, although I really haven't fiddled with the TLS's engine compartment.

Blow-by occurs in all engines with high compression. This is common for turbo & supercharged cars. Although there are engines out there with 10.0:1 or greater compression that aren't forced induction, the piston rings tend to be better sealing than in the usual forced induction engine. Thus, the blow-by seen is so little that it's not seen and has no impact on the engine at all.

With that being said, it's safe to say that catch cans should be left to forced induction engines.
