Unhappy Carbon Fiber Hood Installation

So I bought a carbon fiber hood for my 03 TL and tried to install it. After screwing it onto the brackets, I can't seem to completely close it shut. It'll go into the latch, but no further. I don't wanna use too much force on it and break it. Anybody have any ideas?

can you see anything else hitting it, like around the latch area? i know there was a problem with someone installing one on a 3G, and they needed to cut part of the hood up in order for everything to clear around the latch. just a thought...

i know its a different year, but the problem could be similar. if i can find the thread i will post it up here.

yeah got it on ebay. Tom's Motorsport. I was hesitant at first, but someone backed up into my car and damaged my hood so I needed a new one anyway. Thought I'd try the cf.

can you loosen the latch mechanism and bring it up a bit for adjustment?

lots of people usually buy hood latches because aftermarket unbranded CF hoods have horrible fitment. if worse comes to worse, buy hood latches and it'll stay closed

^^^ agree most CF hoods have aftermarket locks on them they look better IMO too and provide better locking that a factory hood latch.

FYI: I've dealt with Tom and Tom Motorsport as a vendor and just be warned that his products are all knock offs. He is no longer allowed to set up shop in USA, therefore he moved everything to Canada and China.

I'm surprised he's still doing business. Last I heard TEIN and Apex'i had a lawsuit against him and his company.

i think theyre referring to the hoodpins

my buddy has a set of these and his hood stays clamped

basically you drill a hole thru the hood, and a hole into the frame, mount the bottom half on the frame and top half on top of the hood. when you close it you spin the top half, and it locks onto the bottom half

you can get them on ebay for about 20 bucks, lil more for fancier ones
