hood pins

I had a carbon hood on my JDM Type R. I never used them because I think they look cheesy. But on the highway it does shake a little. My advise is put it on and see how it is.
BTW where did you get it and how much?

Well, you could always paint your hood and color match it. What are you trying to accomplish with the carbon fiber hood? Looks or trying to save weight?

I am in the process of getting a new hood next summer because it has a lot of scratches. Should I get the carbon fiber hood or the OEM hood? What are the pros and cons of a carbon fiber hood? How much? Any help is appreciated.

This may or may not be true...
but doesn't the rain damage carbon fiber hood?

I heard that you'd have to switch back to stock hood when it rains... that too me is not too practical.

Besides, why would you want carbon fiber hood on our lux sedan?? IMHO, that would make it looks cheap. I saw a light colored (I can't remember whether it was white or silver) GS400 with a carbon fiber hood the other day. It looked funny.

because of scratches and dings,
so i figured why not
my plan was to first see what it looks like then if i dont like it
i would paint it..... thas all
but now since a hood pin is neccessary, maybe i should change my mind

You'll be looking at spending in excess of 1k for a carbon fiber hood. I'll choose to leave my fat friend at home to reduce weight instead.

Yep, looks like they make a cf hood for the TL! Wierd.

http://www.fiberimages.com/tl00.htm

And heres an image I found on their site that they didn't have posted.

Now lets see some photochopping! I pretty sure it'll look like crap on anything but black... even then it might look whack.

I've always thought that Carbon Fiber hoods look like crap on any car that isn't black. I've never understood why you can't paint it the color of the car...

I think that carbon fiber hoods look sweet on all colors of cars.
It just depends on what direction you want to take your car, your opinion is the only one that realy counts......I can see why most of you four door lux folks dont wana go the route a carbon fiber hood, wild sticker, and painted wheel guy would wana go, but if you wana take a TL and make it your very own, put what you want into it, do what you like to it, and leave this type of forum for questions like how well do comptec springs increase your ride...or something technical............I say that if you were to put a CF hood on a tl, and take it from there then you would have one sweet original ride in your town...

and as far as hood pins go.......you dont need them, some people like them for the race look, others like them because it makes your hood more stable. With FI products like shown above you have no worries, cause they are made to work with factory latches, and i know personaly that their products are outstanding...........One more note, this forum might not be filled with the type of people that you hang with, im saying that FI wouldnt be spending all the money to make a mold for that hood if someone didnt ask for the hood first, so others have requested this hood for this car and think that its gona be realy phat..........peace for now........... just my thoughts

to each's own car and taste...do what u like for ur car

no single piece of art will be admired by all
remember that

In order for the TL to be popular in the modded world/tuner world..
we need to do more custom work stuff on our cars and get some exposures..
that's if u guys want a lot of aftermarket stuff for our cars..

I agree, we all shouldn't be so critical of what others do with their cars, though everyone - both the luxury and racer type drivers - need to respect each others opinions and criticisms if presented in an intelligent manner.
