this morning driving to work, my "check engine" and "TCS" lights came on in my '99 TL
so that's great, i got to work fine, and when i left to come home, the "check engine" light was still on....
went to the store, pulled in a parking spot, and my car just died on me, engine quit running, power steering went out, everything
i started it back up, reparked, went in the store, came out and started her right up again
it drove home fine, but pulling into my driveway, it did the same thing!! just died right there on me......started back up, pulled in the drive and parked her

what in the good lord's name is going on??? any ideas?
my tranny was replaced at about the 80,000 mile mark (95,000 now)

should i take it to advance auto or somewhere and have them run the code for free before i do anything??
help guys...please

 

I've seen some recent post about the same problem. If I remember it right its has something to do with the EGR (Do a search). Take it to autozone to see the reason for the check engine light. Worse case you're still under warranty (less than 100K miles). Good luck and keep us posted. I'm also 99 TL owner (91K).

could be your battery?... although mine didn't die, during the winter, my CEL and TCS blinked.. also w/ slow startups..later the radio wasn't working so i figured it was the battery... later i changed the battery and everything is all gewd!

this happened before, and it was the EGR reading, i was still under warranty (up to 80,000 i think??) - i guess the dealer won't cover it now huh

man this sucks - i think i'm gonna say goodbye to this car once i get this taken care of
