Car Is Creeeeeeky.....Help

I don't know if its just my car or if anyone else has this problem. If I dont have the radio on and windows all rolled up it sounds like the car is really creeky. Like you can hear the leather moving and when you go over speed bumps and turn slow you can hear the car almost flexing it seems. Its not a creeking sound but i dont really know how to explain it. It just isnt super quiet in the car. I have an 03 TLS...is this normal? It seems like i need more stabilization or something.

Yea, I get the same problem. Windows up, radio down, driving on uneven roads, with bumps here and there, i get squeaks. I hear it mainly from the seat belt. I heard there was a fix for that. I do get little noise from the leather, but nothing over the ordinary i guess.

I'm getting creaking, mostly from the rear. I hear it when I brake, but even when I get into the car. It sounds like the springs creaking to me, and based on other threads, it seems like they need to be replaced. That's the next project for me.

the noise isnt coming from my springs. It is defintely coming from the interior of the car.

Maybe the sunroof? The sunroof in my TSX creaks like crazy and drives me mad sometimes.

I have the same problem in my 02 TL-S, it sounds like the driver's seat is creaking/squeaking. It is definitely coming from the seat, if I bounce on it a little you can tell because it gets so loud. I thought it was the armrest for a while, that's the only noise except for a little rattle I can't seem to find.

Any idea on how to fix the seat?

Is it coming from seat or seat belt? Cuz i know there's a DIY to fix the seat belt squeaking.

Your problem may be the lumbar adjust handle on the right side of the driver seat.
If in a forward position it will rub against the center console and make an irritating noise
Check that first

My seat makes a sound when getting in and out of the car and you put all the weight on the side of the seat but when sitting its fine. I also notice when I wear my seatbelt the buckle will creaky once and awhile. Normally I dont wear my seatbelt (Yes I know thats bad) but when I do it very rarely does it. 99.9% of the time my car is very silient.

I will definitely check this first. Mine has started that horrible creaking, and it just started so it may be this.

Thanks!

I have the drivers side seatbelt squeak, my passenger seat often squeaks when I have a passenger (could be that seatbelt as well), and with my sunroof open (or just the sunroof cover), I get lots of squeaks and weird noises from the roof area. I had them fix a sunroof noise when I first got the car, but it is back.

Hahahhah those commericals really are so stupid. Cops dont really care about that. I mean first of all how can they even notice unless they are pulling you over already for something else. I dont think you get that ticket unless your getting pulled over for speeding or something and then they just add that on.

And as far as the seabelt I actually used to before I got my own car. I just think mine are really old and dont move easily and are pretty uncomfortable. I know thats bad and if I get in a wreck im screwed but I just dont like too. I will wear it however if im going long distances. Just be thankful we dont have an alarm like all the new cars. Even when its on though mine doesnt squeak unless you push it just the right way so its pretty rare.

Trackrunner228, it is your life, and therefore your call, but I'd say that not wearing a seatbelt is about the dumbest thing a driver can do. You're only 18, so maybe you feel like you can't get hurt, but I'd strongly suggest that you change your habit. Airbags or not, you can get seriously F'd up in an accident without your seatbelt on (and yes, I know the same could be true with it on as well).

I forget the statistic, but I think it is something like 85% of all accidents happen within 10 miles of where you live.

I relieze this I really do and I really have been trying to make more of an effort to do it. Its just now its habit not too. If I remember though or I think about it I will its just I have to admit I do hate the TLs seatbelt. My parents had newer cars so I got used to theres which move easily and mine doesnt and you notice it more. Its just now that I got out of the habit of wearing it its hard to get back into it.

It the point where teh seat belt fastens to the frame. You have to remove the seat to fix it.

It's not rubbing against the console, and it's not the lumbar support I checked that before. It sounds like a fucked up spring or the frame of the seat. Maybe I'll just take it apart for fun...

This says it's for a 99 or 2000. Does this apply to the 2002 as well?

True that. One can also protect the home with a shotgun, but it is easier to lock the door!

Thought so. Can you find the wool tape at Wal-Mart? I want to try this to see if it helps.

wool pads can be bought just about anywhere.

Remove 4 bolts that hold seat down, then unhook battery, then unhook harnesses. Follow DIY posted.

Lube the sunroof track and rubber seal. Also tighten screws in that area.

Click it/Ticket
Actually its VERY easy to see if someone is wearing the seatbelt- Cops just look for the shoulder belt and since this is a nationwide requirement to wear seatbelts- it is also NOW a Primary offense and that means you CAN and WILL be pulled over just for that!!!
$50 first time $100 if caught again- then they get really serious with the $$$
And while they have you stopped for something that stupid- lets go ahead and see what else we dont like about your car or you, hmm is this car too low- what about these light tints and muffler, registered and insured- check these window tints- you been drinking tonight sir?

Not in the habit of putting it on pttttttttttttttttt- these are not condoms folks!
Put a note on the dash to remind yourself
Key in , belt on - start car
you cant drive smooth and fast while hanging onto the wheel

I tried the Lumbar support fix and that seemed to work. I heard no squeaks afterward yesterday or today.

As for seatbelts and cops, I used to believe that they didn't care either, until I was just riding down the street and a cop standing at a pole looked right into my car, got on the radio and had me flagged over in to a parking lot down the street at their road block. I have also had cops (who were a little cooler) see me at a stop sign and beep their horn and make a motion for me to put mine on. They definitely see, and it definitely matters. Try to get back in to the habit of wearing it. i stopped wearing mine at 19, and here I am 10 years later still trying to remember every time to put it on. When you get older you start to feel a little less invincible. I have a bad scar on my hand from the last time I had an accident without my seatbelt on and It helps me to remember.

Wow im sorry that stinks. Look at it this way though your next car you probably wont have that problem. All the new cars have a buzzer for you to put it on. Actually I didnt like the red light on the dash so I wanted to see if there was some way to change that and if you look in the little book it says the car also has a beeper. Mine has never done that and apparently none of the other members have it either? A misprint maybe? Anyway though pretty soon with all thew new cars everyone will be wearing seatbelts.

Don't worry about it. The scar on my hand is a small price to pay given the severity of the accident. The car that is gone was my 1st Gen TL. I have a 2nd Gen now. I see the little red man warning about the seatbelt, but after 10 years of ignoring it (the little red man in my 1st Gen finally burned out), I sometimes find myself already on my way before I remember to put it on. It rarely happens now, but not wearing your seatbelt is a pretty bad habit. I started it because I didn't want to get my shirts wrinkled. Looking back, that was the dumbest reason ever not to wear it. Anyway, Just be careful , because you never know what will happen out there on the road.
