Car alarm question...
I just brought my brand new TL home monday and some SOB already put a brick through the window. The saleman told me there was a LOUD alarm on the car that would go off only if windows or doors were broken in to. Well, nothing happened. Did the dealer lie to me, or do I have a defective alarm on my car? If the dealer did lie to me, do I have any recourse now that my car was broken in to and the guy got away because no alarm ever sounded? It was parked right out front where many people would easily have heard if an alarm was going off. What do you all suggest?
Cheers!

how do you know for a fact that the alarm didn't go off??? I'm gonna be honest, I don't think that breaking the windows will warrant the sound of the alarm. Unfortunately Acura's sh*tty security system only protects you from a breaking and "entering". Since the guy didn't follow through with entering your car by pulling up on one of the door locks, the alarm will not sound. If you're worried about this happening in the future, either install shock sensors to your factory alarm (causing any harsh impact to make the alarm sound), or install an aftermarket alarm, which many members on this forum have done for that exact reason. A good one to look into is a Compustar. They have great range, and protect your car from basically any angle.
Unless it has an aftermarket alarm, it wouldn't have gone off. The stock alarm on your TL does not have glass break, shock, or tilt sensors. All it will do is sound if someone opens a door, trunk or hood.
