Calling On All Tl Owners With Intakes

I NEED RESPONSES FAST....I NEED TO KNOW WHICH IS BEST. The AEM V2, INJEN or AEM standard intakes, or COMPTECH ICE BOX (does this require another attachment or will it work as is)?
Any and all input will be appreciated, but I need responses immediately.

dang man, chill....any of those will be fine

all you need to decide on is if you want more sound and or better looks in the engine. if you dont care the Icebox will work.

And dont you already have the V2???

ahhhh I see, well from what I have heard, the V2 is probably the best intake overall. But with intakes and our cars, you arent going to get that much HP anyway, so I wouldnt spend that much on the V2 again, just get the Injen or AEM CAI.

Icebox looks stock, does not have the growl of the CAI
If you want a stock look, get the Icebox
If you want a modded look and the sound, get the V2

icebox and V2 are VERY close in HP difference as are the INjen CAI and AEM CAI...but differences between the Injen/AEM and icebox/V2 are less than 1hp to the wheels. and the difference between AEM/Injen SRIs and thei're CAIs are again less than 2hp to the wheels.

think about this when you see the prices.

Im sure you can make it fit...

Hey Sonny'99, i just installed the Injen 2pc intake (bought off this site), and its VERY easy to install, its harder to get the stock intake and bumper off than it is to install and put bumper back on... Just so you know, the sound is incredible!!!! its smooth and deep and when it hits Vtec, it sounds like a frikin porshe!!!!

I'd like to post an Audio file but dont know how...maibe a video file instead...anyone know how i can do this?

=========
this smileys are copied from a site...i've seen those before...and i think its copywrited too...its a page with 588smileys if i remember correctly but i also think the page was called "588 free smileys" idk...i think thei're awesome!

I just put in the AEM V2 on my '02 TL-P.. fits fine. If i could do it again, i'd just get the regular AEM CAI... the best price for the V2 i could find was $260

The AEM V2 is made for the TL-P only. They don't make a Type S application yet.

In terms of advantages/disadvantages here's my opinion...

Icebox Pros/Cons: Looks stock, has some of the best gains, doesn't add a lot of noise, Comptech quality, no worries about sucking down water, somewhat expensive (~$250)

AEM V2 Pros/Cons: Adds a nice growl, has some of the best gains, somewhat expensive (~$250), has a nice aftermarket look, potential to damage engine when driving through flooded streets

AEM / InJen CAI: Adds a nice growl, has the "least" gains of all 3 types of intakes (although its probably not noticeable), least expensive, bypass valve available for 2pc intakes to prevent engine damage by sucking down water but bypass valve has the potential to deteriorate and fall apart getting sucked into your engine

Personally, I like the Icebox myself, but I didn't want the extra sound that the CAI added.

Alright, i just finished installing my Injen 2pc CAI....just to start out, the installation sucks...easy but long...BUT, after i finished, i turned my car on and drove. It has a HZZZZZ sound if you put your ear next to it and when i started going, 2000rpm=FFFFFFF, 3000=GRRRRRRR, Vtec= AWESOME DEEP porshe sound where you can make out each of the piston's explotions...

I want to post a sound file but dont know how, could anyone tell me so i can help this dud

Oh, it had a nice gain in power, not too much difference since i was in full tank and 4people on board, but YES you can fill it.

Im go cry to my mom now since i cut myself 100000x times cuttin out + meshin the fogholes!

Hey etxxz or anyone else out there, could you give me instructions on how to install the CAI part. I already have the Injen SRI installed and I want to put the rest of it on, but I'm not sure how to and I couldn't find any directions. Thanks in advance!!

My preference.

#1 choice will be the Icebox with a K&N filter
#2 AEM V2 (for CARB certification)

The AEM V2, INJEN or AEM

Dude,

Just so happens I called AEM inquiring about the V2 this morning for my TL'00, and unfortunately they do not make a V2 for the 2000. They only support the '01+.

So I am back to the drawing board in search of the right CAI for the 2000. I spoke to Compech back in March and gains are on 5 horses with the ICE box...not enough.

I am now considering the INJEN or the basic AEM.

The AEM V2 for the V6 Accord DOES fit a '99 & '00 TL. I have it on my '99, and so do others as well. If you order through this sight, this is what you will receive. It goes on with little trouble, just redirecting a couple of lines, as with any intake. It's just that the instructions are a little off, no biggy. Also, don't expect to have gains of more than 5 hp with any intake for our cars, it just doesn't happen unfortunately. Oh, and another thing, I, as well as others, have already said that you have little to worry about CAI intakes and puddles of water. A bypass valve is unnecessary as long as you use common sense don't go trudging through massives amounts of water, which is hard on your car anyway.

It depends, you get 5 to the wheels...but your crank get more than that for sure!

I have a close by friend with the AEM CAI on his '00, and i have a Injen 2pc CAI on my '99. Just to help you decide what to get, the performance difference is close to 0. (he's just feels faster on 0-60 couse he has 5speed vs my 4speed) AND the only sound difference is that the AEM is constantly GRRRRing, while the Injen only expresses anger after 2000rpm, and when both get to 3000rpm and on, its the same sound. Maibe my Injen had a deeper sound on the vtec area.

The only notizable difference is the $30 if not more between them. If you buy off this page you will get a 6% tax, just know that, i got screwd there, instead of paying 217 for my Injen here i had to pay 230.xx!! so for the AEM should be just around 260.xx

BDV687-
Installation goes as follows:
A) Removing stock intake/Resonator
1) remove bumper
2)unscrew the hell outa everything to take them off.
3) When unpluggin the coolant line, IT WILL SPILL, dont worry, just close it up and bypass the coil (stick the 2 ends together, preferably use the peace that comes with the intake.)

B)Installing Intake:
5) After stock intake is removed (pm me for details if you need help), Intall the part that hooks the intake with the throttle body, hook the together and tighten.
6) Cheez dud, after this is very easy, its like playing LEGO exept it comes with instructions!!
7) close everything and
TEST DRIVE!!

Terms of service:
If accidentally your car breaks down, screws, intake and bumper fall off causing you to drift lanes and have a huge ass truck run you over, smashing the car [and you] OR any similar case I will not be held responsable.
