A/C Compressor fan.

Has anyone had to remove this on a 2000 TL? Basically mine has so much crap in it that it won't spin and causes the fuse to blow. I can fix it with WD40 but that only lasts a few days. I was told you need to remove the radiator to get down in there but that doesn't seem accurate. Anyone here have to replace the fan and had any luck without removing the radiator?

Wow. Condenser fan. Sorry about that. Yes, the one that's on the other side of the radiator on the passenger side.

Remove the lower cover from under the car (if theres any) then you will see one 10mm bolt holding the fan shroud, just loosen it no need to remove it all the way. Then remove the upper 2 10mm bolts and unclip everything attached to the shroud, pull up.

Wow, ok.... the condensor fan's a relatively simple removal and replace. Couple of retaining bolts and electrical harness connector. Sometimes ya can get by with just replacing the fan's motor. But, the whole assembly isn't all that expensive, and an easy DIY.

Thanks. I was told I would have to remove the radiator for the process. Glad to know it's something could do myself (although I guess a radiator removal can't be that bad).

Thanks. I found online pricing for anywhere from $50 to $80 so I'll just go with that for now. Get the whole thing done at once.

You can do it, don't cause yourself any extra work. Test fan's motor by jumpering 12v directly to connector.

Nope no need to remove it.
Careful with the wire that goes to the compressor make sure to unclip it from the shroud before pulling up.

The motor seems to be fine. Originally I lubed up the fan with WD40 and it ran for a few days. However, that's clearly not a permanent solution as it keeps blowing fuse 21. I will double check though. Thanks.

^^^ Yeah, if the fuse is blowing.....chances are that the fan's motor is shorting out internally.

I just recently replaced my primary cooling fan's motor. But I can say that during that process, you most definitely do *not* have to remove the radiator for either of the fans. I didn't even have to disconnect any radiator hoses to remove the primary fan assembly. I just unclipped them so I could push them aside a bit, and I "walked" the whole assembly out. Condenser fan, I imagine, would be about the same. It took all of 10 minutes from start to finish.
