Buying 2002...Nav ir no nav???

I am looking @ buying 2002 with round 40,000 miles

goes for about 18,000-18,500 w/o nav and nav adds about $600 to price in kelly blue book

If i usually use mapquest before trips, do u think nav is that much more helpful?

I originally wasn't planning on buying my TL-S with NAVI, but the color I wanted wasn't available at the time w/o the NAVI so I got it... Got a pretty good deal on it too, only added $1500 to my final price. Anyways, after having a car with NAVI, I pretty much depend on it now ... I wouldn't buy another car without it.

Mapquest is great and all, but it can't tell you 1/2 a mile before a turn comes up to warn you to move over and then remind you 500 feet before the turn to make the turn ... Mapquest doesn't help at night or in the rain when its difficult to read street signs while the NAVI will work at night and in the rain telling you where to turn ... With the latest 2.11 DVD, I think you've got 95% of the USA covered on 1 disc too..

I'd recommend it, but if you don't drive around to a lot of unknown places then maybe its not worth it. Although at $600 extra, I think its def worth it ... At $1500 it was worth it to me.

I didn't think I wanted one, so I skipped out on it when I got my TL-S. Then my dad got his '04 XL Denali with Navigation, and now I seriously regret not getting navigation on my car. Definitely get it. It doesn't just give you directions; emergency facilities, restaurants, grocery stores, reroute in case of a traffic jam, etc, etc. I would've gladly paid the 2,000 dollars for it if I had known that it would such a great thing to have.

The only semi-major difference between the 2002 NAVI model and the 2003 NAVI is that the 2003 NAVI model also comes with OnStar. It doesn't effect the functionality of the NAVI at all, but some people like the OnStar. Personally, I never use it.

But the NAVI system itself is exactly the same in the 2002 and 2003 models. If you have an older DVD in your NAVI system, you can goto www.acuranavi.com to order the latest version. The disc itself is expensive, running $185 + 6.00 shipping for the latest version.

Agreed. It's a no-brainer. I know of not a single soul who bought the NAVI and thought it was crap. Even if you od go the same places al the time, it tells you ETA (in case of traffic), it has the phone number database so you can find places by phone number, and the detour and voice prompts come in handy. And no one mentioned it's a great base for installing in-car DVD/game controls.

Get the Navi ! You won't need mapquest anymore.

For $600, it really should be a no brainer. Plus the dash looks nice with the navi screen in there.

Get it now or else you are going to shoot yourself later for not getting it.

Now every new car I get MUST HAVE navi in it!

I hope I never have to use it. If it gets used, that means: my car has been stolen, I've locked myself out of the car, I've had a wreck, etc.

Actually I do use the personal calling mintues sometimes.

It's kind of like airbags. I want as many as possible, but hope I never see them.

Well, some people have the all-out OnStar package where you can ask for directions using the OnStar people, use it for a 411 service, a concierge service and other crap ... I dont pay for the service at all though. A waste of money imho..
