MDX knobs will fit.

 

Well I have an MDX knob on mine, but I had to drill the hole in the knob wider... just enough that it is still small enough that you can "force screw" it on. I love it! LOL.... but now I just cant get it off! There is something funky about the 99's shifter pole, so I dont know if it would directly fit a 00+ or not. It looks great though, I dont know if the other ones have the Acura logo on the top or not, but mine does... and mine was free, so I'm not complaining!!!!

 

the 99 tl's shift knob pole is wider than 00-03 tl's and wider than the mdx's. you can either get an OEM one from autocarparts.com for 99.00 or get a universal burlwood one on ebay for 48.00 shipped. the universal one I got I had to drill the plastic inside the shift knob a little wider, but no big deal. easy to install too. Mine was 48.00 shipped, color matched to 99 tl-p burlwood interior and has an "A" acura logo on it, looks nice!

 

also mwhile you are at it take off your shift plate and spray some paint stripper on it and underneath is beautiful chrome. the 99 tl is the only tl that has this secret chrome shift plate. it looks great ecspecially with wood shift knob.

Well he said that the 99 tl is the only shiftplate that is chrome underneath...

I don't want to mess mine up if it's not...

and are we talking about the surrounding rim or the thing with the groove for the gear shifter?

 

I have the stock knob on my '03.

Many many Acura owners from Legend to 1st and 2nd gen TL have put on the MDX knob.

My '97 has the mahogany.

 

I just want one that matches my burlwood plastic crap and my leather lol...

I like the one with wood in the middle and leather on the sides.. it looks cool if it will match my 2000 tl parchment or whatever.

 

Are you referring to the 2004 RL knob?

Like I said.. I just want it to match the wood... If the top one matches my beige leather and the burlwood I'll go with that one if it fits my 2000 TL... yay

The universal RL burlwood one matches and is all wood, but is too long for me...

The Short Stubby one looks more mahoganny and seems a little dark to match and is all wood...

I don't know about the MDX one, but I like the leather/wood look to it... I hope that one will match and fit for me... I'll go to the Stealorship tomorrow and see or My mom's lexus has a cool shifter... maybe I'll steal hers lol

 

i thnk someone tried that already.. the lexus has a different wood grain and just doens't blend in well..

it'll look nice, but you can tell it isn't OEM or for the car

You do not have a 1999 TL, there's no chrome underneath your shift plate.
