Angry Broke the da*n stock tailpipe tip!

OK, i just bought mothers chrome polish and i was like heh, time to polish those tips (by the way i still have stock exhaust). When i get down there to check things out, those puppies are looking pretty bad, and I see a bolt to loosen them, and i assume to take them off. I used a 10mm socket, and it is in 1/4 sized ratchet, so i'm like trying to get this rusted beast off, using all my brute strength to no avail. I go to my basement to look for some WD-40, we have none, so i find some ether, i figured eh, it'll work.. so i hosed it down. Still not loose, so i got mad, frustrated, and I used all my strength. HAHA. then the bolt head twisted off, yeah, i was either like this, or maybe a little more like this :wow: , i can't recall. Well the tip is still on, its not going anywhere for now. what do i do? i have 1 shiny tip that has the bolt broken off (left one), and i have the other tip which is dirty as h*ll but still has the bolt lol. so what do i do? take it to the dealer and confess? oh man, i should have just polished them while on the muffler haha, thats me for you. oh man.

PS - I don't have the bolt head anymore, i threw it across the street when i got mad

Take it to a bodyshop, they can burn the bolt off for you. I had problems removing the rusted bolts. They torched it out for me. They have loosen more rusted nuts and bolts than any of us

btw, you may need some anger management my friend

The guys at the shop can take care of that for you. I'd not worry about the tips falling off since you are dumping them after anyway. I know my stock tips are at a junkyard somewhere rusting...

That's exaclt what happened to me. I broke off the bolt head too. So I got pissed off and told my dad if he can take it out. Well it took my dad a few minutes but he did manage to get it off. I didn't see how he did it cause I was still pissed off that I broke it.:p

BTW, why take it to the dealer to get ripped off?!! This time try it again but put the flame on it first to try to make it soft first.

yeah i'll try that tomorrow, where would i be able to get the right bolt if i do it myself? b/c i still have to take the right tip off to clean it, so if i used a torch and get the right one off, and say i get the left one off too, where do i get a bolt?

I am assuming you are getting aftermarket tips. If you are then it comes with the bolts. But if you are still going to keep the oem tips then just go buy the bolts at home depot and save yourself some $$$ from not buying from the dealer. To give you a perfect rip-off example from the dealer: they charge $2.10 for one freaking plastic bolt that holds the plastic pieces together!:wow:

I can see that BlackShadow is still not happy about the "high price" of those plastic clips. I have been hearing that from you since the July Niagara meet!

when i changed out my stock tips for bigger ones, i couldnt get the bolt off for shlt. What i did was i grabbed a pair of pliars and grabbed the strip of metal where the bolt is on and bent it outward. Then i used my strength and muscled it left and right until the f ucker twisted off. I reccomend you get some new tips, like the 3m ones on this site, cheap and very attarctive.

Majority of people on this board got the 3A racing tips from Pep Boys for ~$50 a pair.

LOL! And you will continue to hear it until they lower the freaking price!:p So I guess you'll be hearing from me forever cause there is no way in hell a dealer will ever lower a price.
