Break-in Oil
When I was test driving vehicles (Before I Purchased my TL-P), I test drove the Honda Accord EX w/V6. It was a beautiful car and a nice ride. Well, as the dealer was giving his little SHPEEL he mentioned that the Oil in the car was a Break-in Oil, not the standard 5W-20 That Honda uses. The Acura dealer never mentioned a break-in Oil, and I'm starting to think the Honda Dealer was just making that up. The only reason I am putting this out there is I'd like to dump my 5W-20 and put in 5W-30 and a better Filter now, before my first Oil Change but am wondering if this MYSTERING BREAK IN OIL exists for Honda/Acura Vehicles. I read nothing about it in the owners manual, but I know a lot about the car that's not in that manual. I've heard of break in Hydraulic Fluid on some Heavy Machinery (10K Forklifts) that I've used, but never oil.
Is their a such thing as a "Break In Oil"? and if so what is it?

Straight from the Acura Owners Link website...

Your Acura engine was delivered with an oil that is specially formulated for new engines that have not yet developed their "natural" wear patterns and may contain minute particles from the manufacturing process.
American Honda strongly recommends this special oil be left in the engine long enough for these wear patterns to develop, usually until the first maintenance interval specified in your Owner's Manual, based on your specific driving conditions.

Hope that helps.
BTW - Go Army - Beat Navy!

No, man. I was a 19K from 1988 to 1991 (that's a US Army M1 tank crewman for you lay people).
I wouldn't trade my years in the Army for anything. Isn't it funny how bad memories fade and only the good seem to remain?
BTW - if anyone else hasn't already said it (or even if they have)... Thank you very much for what you're doing!
