Break in

Someone broke in to my car and the alarm did not go off

i believe the alarm only goes off if the door is opened if locked...smashing a window wont set off the factory alarm

If factory alarm, it will only be set off by opening the door or forcing the hood open. Sorry to hear that OP, I know the feeling.
