I also waited for 1000 miles before I started pushing it. Nothing to high. Just wanted to open up the VTEC.

Didn't go above ~3000 RPM until I reached 1000 miles.

I waited 1,000 miles, then let the engine go all out. 5 minutes later, got pulled over by a CHP and got a huge $300 ticket!!!
Talk about being unlucky.

Ha, how many of you actually think your car was never revved high at the dealership before you bought it? People were test driving those TL-S's at the dealership here in Charlotte - and if they were anything like me, stomped the gas on their test drive to see how it accelerated. I'm sure mine was abused a little bit before I took ownership.

Well, then you're just silly for taking a car that you think may have been beaten on. My car had 3 (that's three) miles on it when I picked it up.... pretty much fresh off the truck. I told them I wouldn't accept delivery of any car with more then 5 miles on it....

As far as break-in.... I agree with the masses above... I went 1000 miles before I started really driving it. I figured better safe then sorry. Even after 1000 I didn't totally start driving hard b/c I was getting used to the larger car, but I did floor it once in a while

My car had 6 miles on it when I purchased it. The explanation I got for the 6 miles was that they needed the car to pass inspection so the 6 miles were put on it to get it to pass safety/emissions. I figured that 6 miles wasn't a big deal and probably not enough for anyone to actually test drive it...

I also waited about 1000 miles before I really let her rip ... although after 500 I did start slowly revving the engine a little bit more and more until 1000 (before 500 I never really went above 2500 rpms)

The dealership I went to had 3 or so designated "Test cars" that were meant only for you to test drive. The car I test drove was a 2002 ABP TL-S (not significant enough of a difference between 2002 to 2003 to make them change the test drive car)

It actually made me feel better about buying the car from that dealership knowing they had designated test drive cars and weren't just randomly letting people test drive brand new cars like the Nissan dealership I went to right before I test drove the TL-S and fell in love

When I bought mine I asked the service manager about the break in. His reply was just don't Break 100mph before the standard 600mi. I waited until 1000mi before I started nailing it.
