does anyone notice that their cars steering wheel kinda shakes when you brake hard going at freeway speeds? at slow speeds (under 65 mph) it doesnt shake.

You have warped rotors. Go to the dealer.

Mine started shaking at the 45K+ miles. Everything was fixed under warranty.

Post Shaking.....

I agree with Bioyuki, sounds like you have a warped rotor. Dealer will fix.....or better yet, this give you a reason to buy some cross drilled rotors from this site.

There an upgrade from O.E.M. and their lighter too

Its what your brake pads grab to slow down your car, and they will warp for instance if they get too hot in any one area, (i.e. braking hard to come to a stop and then sitting at a light with your brakes on will hold the heat in that one area longer). Ours seem to have some unusually predisposition to warp easier than they should.

Your brakes basically consist of a rotor (which is a "disk"), rotating with your wheels, and "calipers" or brake pads to slow the rotation. When you apply the brakes, frictional pads that oppose each other press up against each side of the disk, slowing the rotation of the disk. When the disk becomes warped you can feel the undulations as the brake pads follow the in-out motion to match the surface of the disk. I've had cars with disks brakes that would warp if you look at them funny. It's very annoying, kind of like a chattering clutch.

I concur, warped rotors. I had the same thing with my '99TL and it was, indeed, fixed under warranty. They actually turned the rotor on the car for a more precise cut.

replacing them w/slotted rotors worked, but only for about 8 mths...

I got warped rotors on my TL only 5 months after I got it....so I took it in and the dealer machined them back to perfection. No shaking after that

Either warped rotors, or Brakes that are fading badly....Nothing Cross drilled or Slotted rotor's won't help fix..
