Angry Brake Trouble? Brake and Shake?!?

Has anyone else experienced this? I used the search function but nothing came up.

My brakes feel like they're getting worn out. I have 11,000 miles on the car, change my oil regularly, generally take good care of the car, yet I find when I decelerate, for instance when driving on Rt. 9 in Jersey (essentially a highway with traffic lights) my car starts to shake when I brake.

Anyone else experience this? What is it indicative of?

It's indicative of warped rotors.

Mine did this at 11K miles as well...they fixed them under warranty, and replaced the brake pads as well.

your rotors probably warped in the rain or when you hit a puddle of water.

Just bring your car into the dealer and they should fix it without charging you. I had the same problem after I installed my SS brakelines. I brought it into the dealer and they resurfaced my front rotors and replaced new pads for me no questions asked.

Thanks for the response. Now I have to take them to any dealership and they'll fix them for me free under warranty?

It's a known issue that MANY of us have come across. The dealer should take care of it for you under warranty.

Brake n' Shake mean they're about to flake

Time to get new rotors or have them resurfaced.

Is there a visual way to tell if your rotors are warped? When your rotors are warped what does that mean? That the rotors aren't even across the entire diameter of the rotors. I feel my vibrations in my steering wheel when i brake on the freeway, when i'm going about 60-70 mph...i don't know it'f it's my ABS that cause the vibration or something else, but i don't get the vibration at lower speeds...does this seem like my brakes are warped??

Think of a record album left out in the sun. The disc will warp. Your calipers grab both sides of the disc and if it is warped you will feel a "pulse" each time the calipers travel over the warped section. Since your wheel travels around several times a second at speed, it feels like a pulsating vibration. The faster you go, the more you'll feel it when you stop. If you only get the vibrations at higher speeds this probably means your rotors are warped, but not significantly so. However, the fact that you can "feel" the warp means it should be serviced. You cannot see the warp with the naked eve--repair shops use calipers to measure the runout on each disc.

Rotors

Acura has a Service Bulletin out about this. Take it in to the Dealer, they'll fix the rotors and add new brake pads.

I just bought a new Front set of KVRs from TIM. Cross-Drilled and Cadmium Plated. They look very nice. Wt = 18 lbs. If your interested in Brembo Rotors - hopefully I will be getting the rears tomorrow or tuesday, you can check out the "GROUPBUY" over at THE CL-S Forum.
