Brake and spoiler light at the same time?

I have the OEM spoiler and according to the dealership only the spoiler OR the normal brake light can be lit at once... I have seen a TL were both of them go on when the person brakes... who else has an OEM spoiler and has or would like both lights to go on?

If I'm not mistaken (the OEM accord spoilers are this way) the OEM spoiler uses the plug for the normal center brake to feed the OEM spoiler harness. You'd have to tap the wires to have them both work.

Personally, I prefer only one to work.

Having both the Spoiler light and Brake light go on is stupid. Only people who installed their own spoiler who do it. It looks very unprofessionally installed. If you want to do it, it's easy, All you have to do is tap the brake light instead of using an adapter to go to the spoiler.

Yup.. I agree it is stupid. To fix it just remove the bulbs in the two sockets for the brake light after the intall, and then put the sockets back into place. Simple. This is what dealers usually do.

If you have both on, you might burn the fuse as well.

my third light never worked since I got the spolier with the car. When I got my windows tinted, the guy took the speaker off and tinted over the spot where the third brake light is so there is no ugly square in the back. Only need the spoiler brake light.

i believe it is also illegal to have both the spoiler brake light and 3rd brake light be on at the same time. i got my car with the spoielr from the dealer. the only thing isee is that they remvoed the bulbs for the 3rd brake light.

The stock upper brake light has two 7440 bulbs in it.....basically they disconnect the bulbs and socket and use one of the two socket lines with an extention adapter to reach the spoiler.

I doubt it is illegal to have both brake lights on, it just looks stupid.

That's funny he said that because I heard that once before but didn't believe it would be. I definitely heard that it was illegal, don't know why though.

I concur, I have heard this rumor or truth as well from someone. Here in NY/NJ cops are just looking for any reason to pull you over especially if they suspect that a young person is driving the car.

If you don't have bulbs in the sockets, you're going to get the 'Brake Lamp" light on the dash. It will think the bulb is burned out and will light, as the resistance will be different. The correct way to do this is use the plug from the CHMSL and plug it into the spoiler pigtail. This way the spoiler will be active and the deck light will not.
